Hidden in the corner, somewhere in Newington. Tokyo Cafe was a pleasantly delicious and wholesome surprise. My partner and I decided to venture out and try somewhere new and we may have just found our new regular spot.

The dining room doesn’t have too much seating (6-8 tables max) and I would definitely consider it an intimate but cozy vibe. We frequent sushi of all calibers, this isn’t meant to be compared to Nobu or other establishments of the sort. It is an excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant.

The food was fresh and delectable . My partner really enjoyed the Kani Salad as an appetizer. She said it was unique in taste and refreshing. I had a house salad with ginger dressing and the miso soup which was just what I wanted and what you would expect. We also shared the Pepper Tuna Tataki 🤌🏼👌🏽 absolutely delightful. I must mention all from the dressing to the consistency of the kani salad, this wasn’t the generic all you can eat, run of the mill spot.

The very nice lady that waited on us was very attentive and put care into her work. The Sushi Itamae delivered with a beautiful presentation and construction of the “Sushi Sashimi Combo 4 Us”. We finished the meal off with some fried ice cream and left happy and full. I would recommend this place and we will...

Though it's a small place, they make up for it by their attention to quality and flavor of their food. It's a really good Solid sushi place! I ordered miso soup, a avocado tuna roll, and a black spider roll. My soup was a nice portion and very flavorful-hit the spot for a colder night. As soon as I took the first bite of my tuna avocado roll, it made me smile lol The tuna was Perfect along with a perfectly ripe avocado-rice was Just the right texture too and not refrigerator cold! The black spider roll was sooo good too-just the right temperature, I could really taste all of the layers in it. I even ate the ginger, it was moist, tender, and fresh with a very pleasant taste that complimented(not competed) both rolls. I think they brine it in house. Overall I really like this place for their attention to detail and great quality food! I will be coming back :D Nice customer service too-they...

I travel A LOT for work and am always looking for new sushi places because, well, it's my favorite food. This place is takeout only. I did not notice that when looking up sushi places to go as I usually like to have the sushi directly after it is plated. I was not all too excited about that but after seeing the reviews I had to give it a shot and boy am I glad that I did. I got one order each of the salmon, eel, and tuna sushi. The rice is about as good as sushi rice can get. Dense and does not fall apart and also does not have that bad sticky feeling. The fish was clearly very fresh with great flavor. The slices of fish were perfect thickness. I was not expecting this quality for such a tiny place that you'd never see if not for Google. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this little place. I will definitely...

This is definitely my go to place for sushi! They are family owned and the whole family is nice and friendly. They are very welcoming here and always makes sure everyone feels welcome, new or old. I love sushi and always end up coming here. Their prices are great and the food great as well! Their lunch specials are the best around, by far. They have a specials board and its always very creative and delicious, always worth it to check out their specials. The quality is really great as well! I'm always ordering sashimi here. They have some of my favorite tea as well. This year they had switched to cash only, not a problem for me becsuse i always have cash. If you happen to not have any cash on you they provide an ATM for use. They are also open later than most places around the area which is nice!

We were at Tokyo cafe for a team dinner on a Wednesday night. It’s a tiny comfortable place. We were only party at that time dining in at the restaurant. Some of my team have been regulars here for years. We started with bunch of appetizers. I really liked the pepper tuna tataki, edamame, gyoza and tempura. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was amazing, so authentic. For sushi I got dragon roll and shrimp tempura roll. Dragon roll was really well made. Shrimp tempura roll was soggy, that one could have been better. At the end we got some complimentary oranges. It was wonderful friendly service. Food came out in decent pace, we didn’t have to wait for long time. A really nice place to enjoy good food.
