The only time in my life that I have refused to leave a tip. I love chinese food, always have, but I have never in my life been so turned off to it, even old deli chinese has more appeal the slop they serve here. I am only taking the time on this review to WARN YOU that you shouldn't waste a single cent at this place. I read some bad reviews on yelp but my friend convinced me to try it out. Extremely regrettable decision. Please, please, PLEASE take my advice on this, do not let the good reviews sway you into going here... I ordered the number one with special chow mien instead of pork chow mien. The soup was a goopy, clear liquid with a little bit of cabbage and a carrot/pea combo (looks like the veggies in cheap cup noodle) floating around in it, I spotted about 2 tiny strings of egg. The chow mien was alright, but only compared to the rest of the food. The sweet & sour pork was chewie and flavorless, covered in a dark sauce that genuinely looked poured straight from a can. Also, bare of any veggies besides one piece of pineapple garnish. The almond chicken looked and tasted like microwaved frozen chicken, smothered in what I can only describe as a "gravy". Thick, grey, disgusting, garnished with what looked like bread crumbs? Pork rice didn't taste good, the pink, shredded "pork" on top was the only accessory. That's it for the food, on to the terrible service. The food took 35 minutes, restaurant was not that busy, and considering our food looked like it was scooped out of old take out boxes and microwaved, shouldn't have taken that long. I adked for chop sticks & didn't receive them, had to ask again. We weren't asked once how our food was. I finished my water within the first ten minutes, multiple times servers walked by, including our waitress, my cup stayed dry. I decided to wait and see how long it would take to get a refill. Food arrived, food forced down, still dry. I ended up asking and waited 10 minutes for it. We had ordered a meal to go, told the waitress we were ready for our check, took a bit to finish up some & put the leftovers I could only hope to find appetizing later into go boxes. Then waited another 20 minutes for our check & to go order. Finally went to pay, had to make a slight change on our separate bills, our waitress did the math in her head, or tried to. She took forever and kept saying "opps, that's not right" and starting over. Finally able to leave... And all of this with 2 kids under 5, waiting to go for 25/30 minutes with nothing to do. You can imagine... Also, to put a rotten cherry on the moldy cake, my fortune cookie was stale. I will never set foot in the Golden...
Read moreWe ate here tonight, about 2.5 hrs ago Friendly staff and clean place inside...and that's it, that all the positive i have to say. Pot heads and money begging bums loitering outside. Worst Chinese food we've ever had in out lives. Flat DISGUSTING. Over an inch of breading on the spicy fried chicken, (that wasn't spicy at all), full of fat and soggy and gross...and it's all covered in gravy. Freaking gravy? Really? It's Chinese food people! When you finally did find some chicken in it, it tasted old, flavorless and rubbery. Egg foo young tastes like simple green, basil and rotten mushrooms. Their serving portions are tiny for the high prices...our bill came to over $160.00 and that was with only 4 drinks on the table! The meal wasn't worth 5 bucks...period. Fried rice looked and tasted more like wheat germ and it was definitely mixed and reheated with older rice, some stuff in the rice that doesn't come with the rice as well...that makes you stop and think...was this replated off someone else's half eaten meal? Some of the rice was soft and hot and fresh (even though it tasted like dog food), while other parts were crispy, cold, crusted and dry. Spicy beef was burnt. Almond chicken straight inedible...rotten canal water smell to it and some chixjen looked bloody. That's my wife's favorite dish...and she couldn't stand to eat this version of it. Noodles were dry and rubbery and heavily oversalted. And what's with the incredibly tacky, green slime covered celery that's topped with "powdered" ham after it's all been ran through a blender? I will NEVER go back again. Most disgusting "Chinese" food ever. Terrible plating. We drove an hour to eat here on recommendations. Next time I'll drive 15 more minutes to Thai Bamboo and for less money we'll get actual, quality, well made meals with great ingredients. I'm gonna go throw up now...I really might...I'm feeling really sick to my stomach. There were 9 of us in the group...every person complained the food was terrible...nobody happy. I heavily suggest you...
Read moreSo my girlfriend and I walk in here knowing the food would be bad because she’s eaten here before years ago. She thought it would be a funny idea to go here as a joke and I went along with it. I like trying new restaurants. That was the worst mistake I could’ve done.
Other than the waitress being very nice, this may have been the worst food I could’ve eaten. Let me talk about the soup that comes before the meal. It has a strange odor and the texture could be described as snotty. I could’ve gagged. I wanted to leave right there and then but we already ordered.
We both ordered the special that came with 4 items. I’ve never had Chinese food so americanized that it was completely disgusting. The rice was super dry. the noodles were bland. The lemon chicken was coated with this gelatinous sauce. It was like dipping fried chicken into a jar of marmalade. How the hell do you screw something up so bad? The almond chicken was just fried chicken with GRAVY and I assume almonds on top. It was awful. We couldn’t help but laugh at this awful excuse of Chinese food.
Guess how much a meal for 2 people was? No appetizers. No drinks. 35 dollars. That is ridiculous. I can eat at a far more superior restaurant for much cheaper. It’s safe to say we will never come back here in a...
