OK, I generally only review places I REALLY like, so you may wonder why only a 3. I love a vibrant local restaurant scene, so I want them to succeed. This was our first visit. My wife and I noticed this restaurant opened several months ago, but this was our first chance to try it out. The food was across the board very good, with some exceptions. We ordered the Shrimp Mango Salsa. The shrimp, not always prepared well in restaurants, was cooked well and very tasty. The odd part was the salsa, which was chopped to roughly 1" cubes. Kinda odd. We ordered the BBQ Chicken and BBQ Beef Ribs Combo platter. The chicken was a little dry. Not terrible, but a little dry. We specifically asked if the ribs are "fall-off-the-bone", and were told they are. They were not. That's ok, just answer honestly: "no, they're not". The taste on both was great, just not as expected. The place is clean, which means we were able to stay. My wife is certified to teach ServSafe, the nationally recognized kitchen/restaurant food safety program. If it's not visibly up to ServSafe standard upon our entry, she won't even take a seat. So, GOOD! We've walked away from more than one restaurant. I had a margarita, which was awesome! I'll have another, please. Our sides -- beans, roasted potatoes and grilled veggies -- were very good. Oddly, though, the veggies were not grilled. Or, at least, there were no grill marks. Well prepared, just not grilled. Weird, right? The menu and solid wine list presented quite a variety of traditional Argentinian offerings, as well as several Mexican dishes and more American fare, such as burgers and fries. We opted for traditional Argentinian. A mix of sauces, including a chimmichuri, is served at every table with a basket of toasted bread. My wife said, "this is what chimmichuri is supposed to taste like." That is high praise. There was an offering called something like "My grandmother's Lasagna". I assume that is unbelievably good -- it would be the plate of which I was most proud if I had a restaurant -- but we really wanted to try more traditional Argentine foods. The service is the issue. I drink a lot of water. A LOT of water. I always ask wait staff to watch my glass and keep it full, as I did tonight. No such luck. I ordered a second drink. My wife received a second drink. Though they were fairly busy -- and good for them! -- we accumulated a tableful of empty plates and utensils which were only removed very late in the game. I never received a fork. I tried repeatedly to catch the eye of a server or the host, who was only 10' away, but he was too busy with his phone. I finally got up and got it for myself. At one point, the host and a female server had a very nice, lengthy conversation, which appeared to have nothing to do with business and a lot to do with "what are you doing after work"? Meantime, we waited quite a while to place our entree order, with several empty plates and glasses on the table, and me waiting for a fork. Our dinner arrived missing one plate which, based on the amount of time it took to receive it, was apparently a couple mile walk away from our table. As we left, after a generally nice meal and with many tables still occupied, we walked past four employees hanging out at a table, just chatting and relaxing.
So, what's the fix? Just a little more careful prep in the kitchen. Drive home to the wait staff that they are a team. If a customer is waiting, it falls to EVERYONE to get it done. There was a noticeable lack of pep-in-the-step here. The wait staff should be buzzing. If someone has time to chat, that person probably isn't needed on staff tonight.
With a little focus, this place could be a 5! The wait staff needs to get it in gear, and the kitchen needs to be sure that every plate is the best they can render.
Meantime, the food is very good. If you order two drinks apiece at the outset, you'll probably be able to wait out the service delays and have a...
Read moreI rarely ever give reviews online unless I feel really drawn to say something⌠when itâs more than one thing that either makes your experience great or ruins it completely. Last night we made reservations for 6 at the sizzle for my birthday. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday, but not where people were waiting or anything. First thing that was off, was my husband ordered the Argentinian skirt steak, probably the most Argentinian steakhouse item on the menu. We were told the steak was running low so she wasnât allowed to take an order for the steak on the menu, we were welcome to have it in a sandwich or a bowl. My one son ordered it in a bowl and for $30 something dollars got two slices of steak. 100% not worth the cost there. My husband ordered a different steak and 2 sides. When our food came, the steak wasnât cooked correctly and he had the wrong side. Then my food came (the filet, which was probably the only item we purchased that was worth the cost), and no sides were brought for me. One of my sons had ordered a side that was also forgotten. By the time I was brought my sides, I was done with my steak. We wonât be back again. Restaurant was extremely expensive to not have the items on the menu on a Tuesday, Iâd to say you do have it but we have to slice it up and give it to more people to make more $$, so here you can have 2 slices for the same price pretty much. In addition, tostones werenât cooked properly.. my husband and I are both Hispanic and very familiar with them. They werent cooked enough and were bland. I was excited to try something new but left very disappointed and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to The Sizzle BBQ 's opening night last night in Newton!
Let me start off by saying the staff were so friendly and the restaurant was so beautiful inside đ
Their opening night was definitely affected by the snow storm but they really managed to wow us even with being understaffed.
They give you these hard breads and 3 Argentinian dipping sauces. I have never tried anything like it!
Then we ordered Provoleta which was a provelone cheese melted with some spices in a cast iron with bread to dip into it. The flavor was next level đ I wish it was a bigger amount because we loved it lol
We also had their empanadas. They were so crispy and when you take a first bite you actually get meat instead of air. (We've had our fair share of empanadas these are on the top of our list)
Now to the entrees. I can't tell you how many items we wanted to try but we settled on a burger and a pulled pork sandwich. The burger was so good, I got it with mozzetta cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. It's hard to get someone to add an egg to your burger but they did it opening night đđ¤¤
My boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich which also came with bacon on it. They bbq sauce was very good and the sandwich had so much flavor. The fries our entrees came with could've been crispier but they were still good.
I wish we couldve tried the trees leches cake but it was opening night. Needless to say based on the hospitality, beautiful ambiance, and such kind staff we will be back!
We saw someone order the fajitas and got so jealous LOL
Thanks for the amazing dinner even during a...
