My wife and I dined at Tikka Masala in Newtown last night (Saturday)and were genuinely impressed. We used to frequent the previous Indian restaurant at this location, and while we had fond memories there, this new and vastly improved iteration completely exceeded expectations. New owners, new atmosphere, new flavors!

First impression- Spotlessly clean, warmly decorated, and inviting. The refreshed interior is modern but cozy, with thoughtful lighting and updated décor that immediately makes you feel welcome.

We ordered the Bhindi Masala, Goat Curry, Butter Naan, and two Mango Lassis. Every dish was excellent:

The bhindi (okra) was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor—neither greasy nor over-spiced.

The goat curry was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful.

Naan was warm, buttery, and beautifully crisped on the edges—perfect for scooping up all that delicious sauce.

The mango lassis were cold, creamy, and refreshing—just what we needed to round out the spice and heat.

Spice levels were customized exactly to our preferences. Portions were generous, and prices were very reasonable for the quality.

Service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and truly hospitable. Our server checked in often without hovering and made sure every detail of our meal met expectations.

Beyond our table, we noticed other guests were clearly enjoying their meals, too. The restaurant had a welcoming, happy energy, and it’s obvious that this team cares deeply about the guest experience.

The menu is quite diverse—lots of vegetarian and meat options, plus appetizers, soups, Indo-Chinese dishes, tandoori, biryani, and more. You’ll definitely find something to love.

Tikka Masala is a gem. This place has completely won us over, and we’ll absolutely be back again soon.

Highly recommended. Newtown finally has a top-tier...

There should be rating of negative I believe as 1 dose not justify the experience. When I entered the restaurant they had a huge table and I sensed that getting a timely service would be a problem. I asked the server if service would be a problem and she said that what ever you would order would take 15-20 mins. I confirmed again and she assured me that yet the service would be prompt. I got my main couse after 50 mins of the order. We ordered Veg. Manchow Soup and it was served with bread crumbs, to my surprise I asked the chef and instead of admitting his mistake he said that we serve fusion soup and this soup had tomato base. I had to return the soup back. Then we ordered sprint roll and it was served with sweet and green chutney instead of schezwan or sweet chilli sauce. This time the some other gentlemen came and asked how everything was going. I asked him if sprint roll are served with sweet and green chutney and again instead of admitting the mistake he said usually we dont serve a chutney with sprint roll at all. At this point in time I had serious doubt about the main course and was praying that to be not goofed up and thank fully it came out to be ok. I dont know how they were able to ranked 5...

New management, new interior and AMAZING food!!

We didn’t know that the former Kolam restaurant was sold and remodeled when we decided to go there for dinner. The interior remodel was very tastefully done. The restaurant seems more spacious, cleaner and inviting than its former self.

The wait staff was cheerful, welcoming and attentive.

The food…oh, the food. WOW. Whatever changes they made to the former recipes (which were very good BTW) are a home run. Food was fantastic. Every dish was bursting with the spices and flavors you would expect from Indian cuisine but so tastefully done that no single flavor overpowered a single dish. Perfect pallet harmony with each dish we tried. Vegtable Pakora (10/10) Lasooni Gobi (10/10) Tikka Masala (10/10) Saag Paneer (9/10) Chicken Biryani (8/10) Malai Kofta (8/10) Bread Basket (8/10) Peshawari Naan (5/10)

The prices were reasonable and the portions were 2x the size of other local Indian restaurants. We decided to get a lot of items for a proper sampling of their offerings. We ended up getting 8 meals out of what we ordered. Left overs were...
