My wife and I stopped at Thursday's Bar and Grill on a Friday night at around 6pm (8/9/19). We were seated and approached by a polite waitress and a trainee, the restaurant area had two other customers. They took our order, and while they were getting our drinks, we noted that the table we were seated at was extremely wobbly (so much so that it was dangerous) and we asked to be moved, which they did with no issue. We ordered the potato skin appetizer which was very good, in fact some of the best I have tasted. It all went down-hill from there. My wife ordered a cheeseburger ($12) and was very clear, she wanted it well done (no pink) but not charred on the outside. I saw that they had prime rib (14oz) on the menu ($25) and ordered that cooked medium with corn on the cob and green beans. When the food came, the burger was medium (not just a little) and the prime rib was just between rare and medium rare (parts had that gel consistency). We pointed this out to the waitresses who apologized profusely and said they would return with a new plate for each of us. I ate the fresh corn on the cob which was excellent. After about 5-10 min they brought out our plates. My wife's burger was clearly the same burger and still had pink in it. My prime rib was the same cut that they had put back on the grill and it came back rubbery. We politely told the waitresses that we were not going to complete our meal and that we would pay for the appetizer and drinks. They said they would go get the manager. Five minutes later they brought the check, the manager could not be bothered to talk to us. It was quite a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThursdayās Bar & Grill is just what you would expect from a place completely covered from wall to wall wood paneling. Like something out of the Stranger Things series this place has been untouched by time dating back to the 80ās. However, just because you have an owner who refuses to leave the past behind that does not make the food unbearable. I usually walk in to the place with my eyes closed. I know it can be quite dangerous, but to shield my eyes from the horrible interior design is necessary. Once I decide to open them and look at the menu, thatās when things start to come into perspective. I love their sweet potatoes waffle fries, and dare I say they taste almost as good as Chick-fil-aās. The food is tasty, but it takes forever for them to bring it out. Iām not sure if they have to kill the cow in order to make the burger I just ordered. Whichever the case, the establishment has scrumptious food, but I would not bring friends from out of town here unless you donāt like them. This is a place I would take my in-laws, and tell them there isnāt a lot to do in Calvert County. Just take a look at the pictures and ask yourself if you truly want to put your friends in that type of environment. I give the place two stars with the potential to get three if they added some creativeness to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve eaten here a few times over the past few years, usually when family comes to visit. The food is usually pretty good, service is fast and servers are friendly, but I want to take a minute to talk about their āgrilled cheeseā... We ate there yesterday and my sister ordered the grilled cheese off the childrenās menu (sister is in her 30ās). For whatever reason, they charge adults extra when ordering a childrenās menu item, but whatever, it was $5 with fries. When they bring my sisterās order out, what they were passing off as āgrilled cheeseā was frigginā white toast with a slice of cheese tossed in the middle. Literally, her āgrilled cheeseā never touched a grill. There was no butter on the bread and the single slice of cheese was still holding its shape... Yeah, surprisingly the combined heat of two slices of toast were not enough to melt cheese!
Anyway, we didnāt bother saying anything because it was just laughable, and even a simple cheese sandwich can be good sometimes. But for crying out loud, if youāre gonna take a shortcut preparing food, donāt do so on the grilled cheese. Thatās the easiest...
