The idea that an Inn/Hotel/restaurant of this caliber exists in such an “off the beaten path” location is part of what makes this place so special. I “discovered” it years ago during a blizzard where the turnpike was shutdown and I was trying to get back to Pittsburgh from Baltimore on back roads. Long story short, it got so bad I had to pull over. When I turned off the car I noticed light coming through the white-out. I got out and walked toward the building, drawn in by the orange-yellow glow and the promise of warmth. Out of the snow emerged a huge stone porch and antique woodwork—like something out of a story book! The inn was open and a fire was burning in the tavern. If that wasn’t enough…oh my goodness. The beers!! The spirits! The shelves were full of some of my favorite Islay scotches and they had some great beers in bottles and on draft. One of the owners came and sat with me off and on and we had some great conversation. Anyway, ever since, this is has been a “must visit” for my wife and I whenever we’re within 100 miles of Pittsburgh. Not even going to talk about the food. We have dined all over the world. The food at the century in is excellent! It’s a...
Read moreI have had the privilege of traveling and dining in many parts of the world, including in Michelin 3 star restaurants. Nonetheless, my favorite fine dining destination is close to home: The Century Inn in Scenery Hill. A remarkable stroke of good fortune!
As to the menu, I especially like the intelligent and creative balance of both the traditional and the innovatively new in every dish offered. I recommend you arrange a tasting menu. You won’t be disappointed! Since the Inn reopened in early 2018, I also happily observe that there is even more local sourcing, and virtually everything is made from scratch, processed and aged in house.
If you would really like to treat yourself and escape for a while to a place of peace, plenty and comfort, I suggest you stay over and book one of the newly restored and beautifully appointed guest rooms. You will also find breakfast to be exceptional.

Read moreThe Century Inn, is simply stunning, to say the least. I cannot give enough compliments to the owner and family!!! Feelings of friendliness, love, warmth and welcome, surround the entire Inn. It was Home. My husband and I, stayed in the Chief Blackhawk Room, for our 38th Wedding Anniversary. Immediately booked another stay, for a future date. Every room, is elegantly charming. Food is Outstanding. Meats from a local area butcher to on site fresh produce, made me feel like I was in Europe. (fresh, hand cut chives on my crepe-YUM!) Every little detail, was noticed and Truly Appreciated!!! Definitely, looking forward to our next stay!!! I give The Century Inn, more than 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shout out to Thistlewaite Vineyards & Winery. A must visit, when in the area. They are friends of ours, that recommended The...
