Barry and Donna are amazing people. They genuinely care about people. Barry's Crab Soup is one of the best kept secrets around. They create a contagious culture of caring individuals with whoever they are around. Love being around them. They give to so many charities and the community. They are always willing to help out those around them and know how to have fun. Give their restaurant and hotel a try. You won't regret it. Come stay at Barry's!

Waited a ridiculous time for the food. Appetizer took 45 minutes. No table touches for refills on drinks. 1 hr and 50 minutes until food arrived. If you are willing to wait, ok place. Food nothing special. Picture doesn't show it but kids burger not done. Repeat no drink refills. Saw 2 other families walk away after waiting a hour. Am not from this area, but big disappointment from a tourist.

We stayed in the pirate themed room. Barry's place has great vibes and excellent hospitality. Donna was professional and polite during check in process. Rooms are dated but comfy and no issues. AC worked great and the bathroom was recently remodeled, with a very nice shower. Also they are affordable! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Right on the water with fantastic views!

We returned to our room around 10pm on our first night to find a large roach about the size of my thumb in front of the bathroom door. My wife refused to stay another minute with a giant cockroach crawling around the room, so we packed our things.

I called Barry's emergency line - no answer. I called Donna's emergency line and explained why we were checking out. Her huffy response, "We don't have cockroaches!" I walked into the bar and the bartender helped me check out. She took down my telephone number and left a note for Barry and Donna to call me in the morning, but they never called. I stopped by Monday afternoon on the way home in an attempt to recover some of my money, but they were closed. I called them Tuesday morning, and they never returned my call.

They charged me $255.75 for the full weekend and never refunded any of my money. This run-down excuse for a roach motel deserves LESS THAN one star!!!

My wife and I had booked a full weekend (Friday-Monday) in August 2014. We checked in around 3pm on Friday afternoon to the "Pirate Room". The bed was comfortable, but the room did not have a dresser for our clothes - just a small rod hanging on the wall behind the door to hang up clothes. We were expected to live out of our suitcases for the entire weekend. The room was small, cramped, and crammed with too much pirate stuff. The TV reception was snowy on all channels. Wi-Fi Internet access was non-existent. The only amenities in the room were a mini-fridge and a microwave oven outside the bathroom door. The room was so crowded with pirate crap there was only a narrow path from the front door past the foot of the bed to the bathroom. We searched for the "private beach" mentioned on their website without success. We found a dilapidated dock and a boat ramp behind the restaurant/bar/motel.

Fortunately, my wife and I were able to find a room at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk that night after we checked out of...

Went on Friday around 9:20pm was told they stop serving food at 9. We said oh ok the website said 11:00 pm. And they just said the owner was 80 and didn’t update it. So we left and figured ok we will come back another day. So we went Saturday got there at 8 and then we were told oh we stopped serving food already. Which we then preceded to tell them about what we were told yesterday. They did make an exception because the friends we were with were celebrating their anniversary. They were pretty much “out” of everything yet people were still being served some things that they claimed they were out of to certain people it seemed. We didn’t all get our food at the same time, and the. We didn’t get everything that came with what we had ordered abs had to remind them to bring it out yet still forgot to bring out another item, we were just over it at this point. The food that we had was good, except the broccoli it was not steamed all the way, but a lot of restaurants broccoli is hot or miss so that was not really an issue. Just feel like there is A lot of inconsistency which is bad for business. Also seems to be kinda a rough group of people that comes here. Both times we heard people yelling at each other wanting to fight. But overall because this restaurant is so inconsistent I would not even attempt to come back. Just a little warning for people who are new in town everything shuts down around...

We stayed at the RV Park during the winter months. Beautiful scenery and no one bothered us with stupid stuff!! The wind was fierce at times and it rained alot making everything muddy and hard to keep clean, but the owners tried their best to help by putting down hay, sand, re-smoothing the ruts that were inevitable and putting down wood to keep us from getting stuck in the mud. They did a good job considering the weather was fighting them at every turn! My only complaint would be that 5 days before I was paid up, I went to visit someone and took the RV. I had been asked several times when was I leaving even though I was paid through the end of the month. I had extended our stay from March 31st to April 30th. I took my trip Friday morning. While I was gone not even 24 hours, I got a call from a friend that my spot was rented out and the place was packed for the weekend. I was paid up through Tuesday! I received no refund, no call from management, nothing. I didn't bother returning Sunday as I had planned as my friend said there was no place for us to park. We ended up going home to New York early...
