Super cheap beer (cans/bottles only) always served to you in a koozy, cash only, big back deck overlooking the sound (great sunsets), $0.50 pool table, and Argie the owner is amazing...from her strong Greek accent and getting surly (will tell it like it is when people are out of line) but very friendly and welcoming to all who pass through her doors.

This place is best kept secret in the OBX if you love a good, no nonsense dive bar. We always stop in for a beer or two every time we are in town. It has a strong local Colington area following as you might imagine.

Note the hours listed on G-Maps are not strictly adhered too. Argie will close the bar early if it’s dead so it’s best to call if you want to stop in for a cold one after 9pm.

I love this place - let me start by saying that. "The Blue Crab Tavern is a unique, waterfront dive bar on the Outer Banks," says their website and it is certainly that but so much more! Far enough off of the beaten path to be out of the way - and off the radar of most summer visitors, it is a place where the beer is plentiful and very affordable, the locals at the bar will size you up to see whether or not you fit in and if you don't want to sit in the bar, the outdoor waterfront seating will make you wish you lived across the street from this place so that you could come, drink freely and not have to worry about driving home! I've read several of the negative reviews here and they all have one thing in common - they expect to be waited on like spoiled little brats and have also never really understood what a "dive bar" is.

This place is not fancy, it's not bougie like Applebee's on a date night, BUT I can play pool, listen to music, and enjoy a beautiful sunset all in the same night.

They take cash only for everything, and that is the one thing that they need to get with in the 21st century (Paypal, Cashapp, Venmo, Credit Card machine lol). People usually only have cards now, not cash. But, if you have cash to cover your tab, the place is awesome.
