When convenience matters! My heart was heavy on Saturday afternoon. I was tired following a long shift of work, then with no sleep, I attended the services of a friend. I had driven an hour to be in Rutherfordton, so before returning home, I drove the 44 miles necessary to go to "Bones Jones Burgers and Butchery" for lunch. I had never stepped into the establishment prior to this day, but I had heard about it on social media. The food looked too good not to try it. And I knew it wasn't going to be a "fastfood" experience. From either direction, the drive to BJB&B would send you kinda off the beaten path. A kind of drive on a nice day that would urge you to keep driving after a nice meal. There's just something special about the back roads. Arriving from the Morganton side, by first glance, you wonder where all the parking is. The building sits across from the Lake James Fire Department. A side road is on the other side of the restaurant sign. The remaining parking spaces are on that side of the sign as well. Parking can be tight for a rush, but I found an adequate space. My first impression on the cool misty afternoon was mouth watering as I could smell the fragrances of "progress" inside the building. They hadn't been open not much more than a couple of hours, but as I entered, it was alive and teaming with hungry people. Not slammed mind you, but busy. Understaffed it seemed, but they held their own. Being seated and looking anxiously at the menu, I noticed there wasn't mention of a fan favorite that was supposedly brought back to the menu, I had seen the night before on social media. I didn't ask, so I settled with "Breakfast In Bed", I guess it would be adequate since I was running on fumes, being estranged from my own bed going on 20 hours. The meal was a burger cooked to order, medium rare, bacon, cheese and egg cooked to order w/seasoned fries. I had Pepsi to drink. Waiting on the food, more customers came in, and it seemed obvious, for whatever reason, the staff seemed under duress. But again, they were working to meet expectations. My food arrived. I waited for my mayo and ranch dressing before digging in. But when I did, I was NOT disappointed. The fries were amazingly seasoned. The ranch and ketchup added to the flavor. And as I finally bit into the burger, (as per my routine, being fries first, then burger), I chose to chew slowly to savor the the flavor. I added mayonnaise and a drizzle of ranch. The egg was fantastic, the burger, pink and juicy. Though it's called "Breakfast In Bed", I assure you, the bedsheets would need to be changed had you eaten this breakfast, lunch, or dinner in bed. But that's a good "mess" to talk about. I ordered a dessert, a slice of an oreo cookie cheesecake. It was pretty good, but I had already been satisfied with my entree, so I was more concerned about the dessert coming to me in a to go container than a plate. They were getting more and more busy. I told my server to take care of the customers waiting to be seated. I didn't want them to have a bad dining experience. The food was tremendous. I would love to try their steak some day. Hopefully dinner will bring a whole new wonderful experience for me in the future. I would recommend BJB&B but ask questions about the menu if you have any, just in case they haven't posted any new items to it from the social media notice. Also, be patient. The staff worked diligently to satisfy the customers and were apologetic when there was an obvious delay for a table. Yes! Go visit Bones Jones Burgers and Butchery! I can say it's now on my sight for one of the better tasting burgers around. Especially if you've been awake for over 20 hours.

Ate dinner here on 7/23/24 with 3 other ladies. Two of us ordered beer and two ordered Margaritas. Beer was fine. Market not so much.Peach Margarita tasted nothing like a peach. One lady ordered the Oyster Mushroom Appetizer and it was FANTASTIC! She told the waitress that she was going to share her appetizer with the table four small plates. The mushrooms cost $10 and when we got our separate checks, the waitress had charged each lady $2.50 For the mushrooms and $.12 each for the sauce that came with the mushrooms. That was just weird. We then proceeded to order dinner which was two Steer and Sear dinners, one Steak Tips and one Seafood Plate. The steak dinners were good and came with two sides. The garden salad they served was good, but they only gave the lady A tiny bit of salad dressing. When she asked for an extra salad dressing, they charged her $.50 for the extra. The lady who ordered that her dinner was cold. She such a nice person. She didn’t complain too much and they never fixed it. I am the one who ordered the seafood plate. This was a nice piece of fish. I will say that it was quite good, but when I got my bill, I was charged $.50 for the tartar sauce, $.50 for the cocktail sauce and another $.50 for the tiny cup of coleslaw. No! I did not order any extra sauces or anything. They just charge you for things that should come with the meal. I have worked many years previously in the restaurant business and I have never seen a restaurant charge you extra for things that should have been on the plate anyway. You would think that for $18 I spent That I could at least have a NyQuil cup full of tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and coleslaw included with the meal. I’m surprised we weren’t charged for Ketchup! I asked the waitress about this and she just looked at me and said that so many people took advantage of them that they had to start charging. Oh! I know all about people taking advantage, but I didn’t order any extra sauces. Cocktail sauce, tartar, sauce, and coleslaw should be included with a seafood meal. That is just chintzy and cheap. The menu prices here are high enough without you being charged for every little thing that should be included with a meal. I will not be returning.

Drove an hour to have dinner here 10.21.23- The place was packed out, & we actually found 1 parking space available. Given a 30 min wait time. No worries. The text for our table came in about 10 mins. Awesome. That was the end of the “pluses”

We were seated & it was approximately 10 mins before we were asked for our drink orders. Drinks arrived. Another 10-15 mins before we were asked for our order or if we were ready to order. So we’re almost 25 mins in @ this point. So we placed our order. App: 2 fried pickles 2 farmers fried cheese (cheese curds) 1 order onion rings

1- Chicken sandwich, Fries, Mac N Cheese 2- prime rib sliders, fries, Mac N Cheese 3- (same as 1) 4- Breakfast burger, Fries 5- Fried Chicken Salad 6- Big Double add bacon Fries

Order 2 came out with beans instead of Mac n cheese Order 4 should have been called a volcano burger because the meat was like volcanic rock. Order 6 Burger undercooked. No bacon.

All orders: where relevant all fries were cold. They brought 1 order to replace the cold fries. 😂😂 Order 6 burger was sent back, re-made and brought back out. The top bun could have been used as a hockey puck. Hit it very forcefully with the spoon never thought of cracking or breaking. Sounded like a hammer on a nail. Bacon was in this burger but it was very undercooked.

Service: Terrible. Waited 15 mins for a water refill, as well as the iced tea refills. Unacceptable. Waitress was lost when asked about menu items. Seemed uninterested to be there or engage with customer Who ran the register? The waitresses. First, they feel fairly confident that it sits with no security or “manned” during an extremely busy rush. đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž Secondly, they did not have proper staff for the fore mentioned crowd. The saddest part of the wait staff was, 2 kids probably 11-13 years of age bussing tables and wandering aimlessly around the dining room. Child labor laws? Absolutely!! I have video evidence & am considering contacting proper authorities. (Will not share it because they are minors)

We inquired about our order because it had been a while since our order. The waitress returned with the answer. “Ok, so we are extremely busy & the ticket times are 45 mins to 1.5 hours. Your order has been back for 45 mins, so hopefully it will come out soon. We are very busy.” Our food was served approx 25 mins later to the above mentioned issues.

Summary: We had orders served incorrectly, cold fries which were almost colder than the beers. Both on Draught. (Mick Ultra, Octoberfest) Wait times for orders were unacceptable. Staff was either improperly trained or uninterested. That includes wait staff, kitchen staff, and managers. We have a chance to make it right and when they replaced items they still couldn’t do it correctly. Their continued excuse is we are so busy, to which I understand. However, you HAVE to have ample staff & properly trained staff at minimum to succeed in service & hospitality industries. They fail miserably at this. The only thing they would really say over & over is “We are so busy & we are sorry!” Laughable. Because we had six people, they automatically apply the gratuity. This is standard in restaurants. With that being said, as an owner you are an absolute loser if you expect to add gratuity with miserable and lousy service. Eat salty cheese curds, onion rings, without water or tea for that amount of time while empty. You are demented to think the epic failure and sorry excuse for service warrants that tip! We tip well, and always will. But you need better staff to require your lousy protocols.

The positives here, apps were hot, fresh, & very good. Other than the fact that they didn’t tell us there were no more fried pickles available after they brought the apps out. Yet, they put pickles on everything else!?! 😂😂 Are they frozen & none is made? Didn’t wanna make it? Aren’t they hand battered & freshly made to order?? At 6:30 you are out of something?

Arrived @ 6:14, seated @ 6:24. We left the restaurant @ 8:50! Ordered all sandwich’s & one salad. He will block you on FB when you...

My family had been wanting to come down here to eat.. so when we finally were able to we were excited Sunday for a late lunch. Let me start by saying we arrived right a bit before 3 and did not leave until 5:45 ish
.. We thought the place was cute. We sat by the door/where the host was at. It was a bit busy which was fine. We had a big party Infront of us but got seated pretty quick. We thought our first initial impression with our waitress was fine.. we ordered a couple drinks, loaded fries ans an appetizer and a huge ribeye steak to share. We got our drinks and waters. We gave the benefit of the doubt when it was 30 minutes and we haven’t seen our waitress or our appetizer in general since it seemed so busy.. but after 45 minutes we requested to see a manager just to see what took so long and explained we haven’t seen our waitress at all. We hoped she was fine. Turned out our waitress had to leave for an emergency which is totally fine, things happen. BUT we didn’t have another waiter that followed up with us the whole time until we ask to speak to a manager. We finally got our food but after realizing it was sitting there for however long in the back.. our food wasn’t hot anymore. We requested management again since we waited for so long if it could be remade.. She explained it’ll take another 30-45 minutes because the ribeye is so thick. Okay that’s fine. We got our food and it was delicious with the few bites we had BUT with all that waiting around we were just over the restaurant that we just couldn’t eat more than a couple bites
and we were hungry! My husband ordered another beer while waiting the second time around and saw a beer specifically sitting by the bar for a good 15 minutes saying “I really hope that’s not my beer just sitting there” and turned out it was. He didnt appreciate it when he received his beer warm. He drank it anyways and didn’t want to have more issues since he works in the food Industry he understands or tried to in this circumstance. We asked for our check, a box, and we were ready to go after only having a couple bites of the steak. It was also warm in there, it’s fine it happens but we have a little 6 month old with us
he was a little pink and sweaty. Anyways, we asked management if we could somehow have some sort of discount off even if it was 10% just because of the very long wait, our food cold and having to remake the food because it was sitting there, no one checked up on us until we asked for management and even when we did we probably only got checked out by a different waiter maybe 3 times.. and how we were in there for almost 3 hours and we literally waited for more than 2 hours just sitting around. She stated there was nothing she could do since the food was remade. We said okay, didn’t hurt to ask. Nonetheless we left very dissatisfied with this restaurants customer service. We had a sweet, older couple that sat by us who got seated a little after us and they received their food and drinks and left way before us. We could tell that even they felt bad for us with...
