I rarely write reviews, but after our experience this evening I wanted to share our experience. After skating and bowling, my husband, 3 kids, and I walked to the main entrance of the restaurant and we were told it would be 20 mins (it was 8:45pm). No problem, so we decided to sit and wait. We were starving. After about 10 mins a group of 4 men came through the side door and sat down at a table. I didn’t think anything of it until I noticed an employees reaction to them just sitting down. The host then gave them menus and silverware even though there were other people waiting at the main entrance to be seated. About 15 minutes later the host seated us. I couldn’t believe there were two waitresses, one table who has finished eating, the table with the 4 men, and then us. It took 20 minutes more for a waitress to take our order. If you were/are a server you understand the frustration. Our waitress was a very sweet young girl, but she definitely has a lot of learning to do. Not even 10 minutes after taking our order she comes back with someone else’s credit card and says “it was declined”. So I explained that is not our card as we literally just placed our order. Mind you there is just us, a table who has finished eating, and the group of 4 men who were being taken care of by another waitress. The group of 4 men had their drinks and have placed their order. We are still waiting on our drinks. Around 9:45pm our food arrives and it is not what was expected but again we are starving so we let it go. Around 20 mins later she brings the check. She has charged us for the kids drinks even though it clearly says “drinks included” on the menu under the kids meal section. I’m already frustrated at the price of the food we have received. So I had to ask why we were being charged for the kids drinks and she says “it’s not a like a kids meal that comes with a drink”. I’m sorry, what? So then she had to ask her manager who then explained it comes with the kids meal so she took it off of our check. Now I understand they were taking care of orders that were ordered from the bar as well but honestly that is not an excuse for the complete lack of service. Especially when each waitress had only 1-2 tables to service. Long story short, this place is not worth your...
Read morePalace Pointe may be the most interesting place in Roxboro. We’ve yet to have a meal that I’d say comes close to decent, but we’re not sure if it’s because of lack of skill or otherwise. I still give an extra star because at the very least, you’ll be in for a treat people watching and the service is great.
Yesterday was our second time eating here. It was disappointing food the first time (don’t get the nachos) but we figured we’d give it another shot since not much else is around. We called ahead to order, but the phone just leads to prerecorded information so if you want takeout, you’ll need to order when you arrive and wait.
Between our order and actually getting our food, it appeared a fight broke out in the kitchen. Someone rushed out behind the bar and called for help breaking up an argument in the back to another staff member. We waited and waited and watched as staff looked bewildered as something was clearly very wrong outside of public view. Someone mentioned the argument in the kitchen had spilled out into the parking lot. It took nearly an hour in total before our order was ready.
We ordered a burger and chicken tenders since we figured they were the safest options after our last meal here. We were, unfortunately, very wrong.
While it was takeout, we ate it as soon as it arrived since we were seeing a movie. The burger was incredibly oversalted, described as “like a salt shaker lid had fallen off during cooking” by my spouse. The chicken tenders were so soggy the breading had slid off and became a pile of mush underneath and yet somehow was simultaneously tough and overcooked. I’m not sure if it was so soggy because the mac was just shoved into the corner of the box with it or if the food had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long.
I’m almost impressed with how much of a disaster our food was, but I maintain optimism whatever issues were happening in the back just overshadowed our order. If you choose to dine here, prepare yourself in advance for the food, buckle up for classic Person County drama, and sit back and...
Read moreWhere to start. Got there when they opened at noon to grab a bite before a movie. Only one person was working who was acting as the hostess and server. There was only ourselves and one other table.
Restaurant was so dark, you literally couldn't read the menu.
We finally placed our order and the complimentary croissants with honey came out. They were hard as rock and not edible. Waitress disappeared for 15-20 minutes at a time. After not getting our simple order after 40 minutes, I flagged down the waitress. She seemed surprised we expected food already since the single table of 5 was "ahead of us", and they had just started our order!
When food finally arrived, the chicken was good but the fries were not edible. We immediately asked for the check before we missed our movie, paid, and left. The server clearly didn't want to be there, and her attitude showed. Others out front had been waiting a while to be seated and were ignored. Heck, even the table of 5 had there order come out late and split into 5 minute waves for some reason.
There was no manager to speak to.
I really like Palace Pointe, and I hope they do well, but they need to close this restaurant. It's clear after reading comments from months ago, this isn't going to improve.
