Cupcake Cuties Cafe & Bakery — Restaurant in North Carolina

I wrote a review with three stars on Yelp!. Christy stated I had the wrong bakery, so Yelp! removed my review. I provided a receipt and photos of the cake I purchased from Cupcake Cuties. Here was my initial review -

First of all, I want to say the staff are amazing, friendly and very helpful. They squeezed me in on a VERY busy weekend and I am grateful. However, our cake was dry and the flowers they decorated it with fell off before our party even began. I was disappointed in the dryness of our cake. There was also nothing supporting our cake that was five stacked layers and the icing cracked in several places. I wanted their cake to be yummy so so bad. The place is cute, their stop in treats are okay, but the cake we received was not up to par taste wise. :(

After Christy replied with the wrong bakery comment and stated they never do five layers as I mentioned, I felt as if it were unprofessional so I replied with PHOTOS of my cake AND a RECEIPT of my purchase. The comment was flagged and removed. I feel like making something right with a customer that wasn't pleased with their expensive purchase would have been the route to go versus being dishonest stating the cake was not purchased from them. I paid for the cake on October 5th and picked it up on October 9th. I wish I could of had the opportunity of giving more stars upon the issue being fixed (something as simple as an apology would have been sufficient). Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case.

I do not understand why a three star review would be considered horrible enough to not be honest to get it removed. The blacked out portion of my point of sale photo is my bank account balance.

UPDATE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE (Sorry, I do not see an option for me to reply) -

I stated "layered". There were three layers of vanilla cake on the bottom and two layers of chocolate on the top. I used toothpicks to replace and secure the flowers that kept falling off. I also ran and purchased a "dust" to help hide the cracking icing I had to smooth back over.

I did not believe my original review was awful! I stated you guys are amazing, etc. just so happens the product I received wasn't what I was expecting. I have stopped in and purchased things from your cases and they were absolutely delish! I expected the same moisture and flavor in the cake and didn't receive it.

I changed my review back to three stars because I am not out here to even attempt to ruin your reputation. I only wanted it to be noticed after Yelp! deleted my review. I appreciate your apology. Again, I appreciate you guys squeezing us in on an already busy...

I really hate giving two stars because they are such nice people. But my daughters cake was not even close to what I asked for. The colors were supposed to be vibrant and darker than what was on the cake.. there was no yellow stars like on the photo, it was pastel pink and purple and blue when I made it clear that they were supposed to be normal grape purple, normal vibrant pink and a vibrant light blue.. NOT Carolina blue... I also asked for the cake part to be marble.. and it was vanilla. Personally I do not like vanilla and my daughter likes both vanilla and chocolate and I wanted her to try the marble because it’s delicious so that was a pretty big let down. Over all I know was pretty disappointed with how it turned out. When I picked it up I just said it was fine because I didn’t have time to deal with telling them how it wasn’t similar at all. It also looks ridiculous when you buy decorations that are a certain color and the cake doesn’t match at all. Thankfully it still looked good, my daughter did like it. It was still okay tasting.. but it was not worth 49 dollars and I will not be coming here again. I’m sorry for the bad review, but I just needed to put...

We had such a great experience for our 6 year old’s birthday party! We had initially hoped to have her party at the bakery, but as seems to be the case with all things 2020, it didn’t quite work out that way! No worries though, because the fantastic owners at Cupcake Cuties worked with us to make sure our daughter’s party was just as special! They arranged a “decorate your own cupcakes” to-go for us to pick up and bring home!! This was such a hit with all the kids! We couldn’t have asked for anything more, from the delicious cupcakes, to the well packed (and beautiful ) icing and sprinkles. They thought of everything! Oh, and all the employees were perfectly compliant to the mask mandate, and I felt totally comfortable while in the bakery picking up our goodies 😉 We will try again to have a party there next year, but in the meantime we will be back to grab cookies and cakes just because- at the very best bakery around!
