Hidden Gem: Market Fresh Quality & $1 Coffee Perfection! ☕
This place is a true local hidden gem and the absolute gold standard for fresh produce and seafood in the Wilmington area! My visit offered a superior and comprehensive experience that goes far beyond your typical roadside market. The selection of seafood is pristine and provides real peace of mind regarding quality and sourcing. But the real surprise is the incredible value and convenience they offer: they have a full section of fresh-brewed, nice-sized cups of coffee available for only $1.00! That single-dollar coffee is the perfect kickstart or midday boost for a productive day, easily beating out any chain in both price and quality. It's clear the team here prioritizes value, freshness, and customer service. They are consistently helpful and offer great deals on both their fruit and market goods. This market isn't just a stop; it's an essential resource for anyone serious about getting the best ingredients for their family. A reliable, detailed, and essential 5-star experience! Read moreEagle Island seafood is better than what you could even expect. While being a smaller location, they have a ton to offer. The name may indicate this is primarily a seafood market, they sell much more than that. They have an enormous offering of cheeses, jarred goods, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. This is the only location I know of other than the Raleigh Farmers market that has some very specific products that I look for. Ashe county cheese, being the only cheese made in North Carolina is an excellent pick. They also have homemade ice cream you can purchase by the scoop. All of this sounds great, but usually the catch is at a place like this the price are high, but not at Eagle Island Seafood. The quality is great, the variety is great, and the prices are great. Many products I've checked sell for their exact MSRP and not a cent more like other roadside / local fresh food vendors. If anywhere nearby, it's definitely worth a stop. If you can get fresh grade A products for the same price or a little more as you would grade C products from grocery stores, why...
Read moreWow, where be do I start? This is as close as you can get to a 1950's country store in the south. I know because I've been to both.
I personally call it "the every people store" because you're bound to find something or someone that'll make you smile.
They're always stocked with fresh fruits, vegetables, raw oysters and fish in season, real bottled soft drinks, every kind of penny candy you can imagine, old-time canned goods in a mason jar, fresh country sausage, ice cold beer in the fridge and did i mention hand scooped ice-cream in a cone.
This is not a major chain grocery with flashing lights and a revolving sign. There's no parking reserved for online order and pickup. But if you ask real nice and polite, one of the customers will probably help bring it out to the car.
This is not a tourist stop, no bumper stickers, no fancy landscaping, just wooden floors, hospitality and memories over the years. Stop by...
