Shout out to Orr’s Family Restaurant on 3228 Spartanburg Highway in East Flat Rock!
We had a lot to do and wanted to have a quick breakfast in the area. We have had lunch in the past from Orr’s and always enjoyed it. We haven’t had breakfast there in a long time.
We selected at booth near a window, our waitress immediately asked what we would like to drink. We ordered decaf and regular coffees. Our waitress informed us that she would have to brew the decaf and if we minded to wait. Sure! We no problem with that, it was more than fine.
Our coffees came out in Styrofoam cups, we were surprised but that was fine too. Both coffees were piping hot and delicious.
As we were waiting for our breakfast, more and more people came into the restaurant. All were happily greeted, hot coffees poured, orders were promptly taken, food quickly brought out. It was very relaxing. Everyone was happily eating and enjoying themselves.
I ordered two eggs over-light, bacon, toast and home fries. My husband ordered scrambled eggs with sautéed green peppers and buttered toast.
It did not take long before our breakfast orders came out. Both were nicely presented. I am a stickler on food presentation, this was very nice and inviting.
We dug in! I was so delighted to see that my eggs were perfectly cooked over-light…the kind of egg perfect where you break the egg center with your toast to sop up all of that beautiful golden, perfectly runny delicious eggy goodness. I ate all 4 toast triangles, dipping them into the amazing yolks. Top notch in my book!
My home fries were potato pillows, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Wow, they were good! My bacon was also cooked to perfection, crispy, smoky, not greasy, not too thin, not too thick, not fatty…just pure bacon-perfectionato!
Note that Lunch time is busy time. They offer daily specials. We’ve had burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, fries a number of times from Orr’s. Amazing and delicious each time. Breakfast and lunch are generously portioned. It’s just good food!
If you like good delicious Country Cooking, quick friendly service with a smile, you will love Orr’s. Just ignore that everything is served on Styrofoam with plastic cutlery, that the building is older and just focus on the delicious food before you. You will enjoy it!
Quick friendly service, mother and son (owners of the restaurant) are the chefs extraordinaire. The waitresses are super friendly. Orr’s has been in business for about 40 years. I can see why Orr’s Family Restaurant business remained a success for so many years.
Nothing fancy, just good ole’ country cooking at its best. Reasonable prices as well. Orr’s Restaurant is on our list as one of our Top 5 favorites in the area.

Read moreNo fuss, home style cooked food. Served on paper plates with plastic utensils and the very BEST in country breakfast! Grits were perfect, hash browns were crisp, over medium eggs were spot on. Biscuits are home-made and the gravy was flavorful and had excellent consistency! They even serve livermush! Service is friendly. Kinda place where everyone knows everyone, yet strangers are welcome! Prices are...
Read moreMy breakfast was half good. Eggs to perfection, taters nicely browned, City ham was the cheapest sliced meat. (And they serve ham steak for dinner) I didn't understand. Biscuit was delicious got a side of sausage gravy. Gravy had no sausage at all and no flavor. It was not good. I got super excited too because the wonderful server we had was bragging about it. Our service was great. My sister loved...
