Don’t skip the sundae! *note: the restaurant is seasonal, so check their hours before you go. #capefearriver #fortfisher #kurebeach #visitnc #northcarolina

Had shrimp basket with coleslaw and fries ($18), flounder basket with fries and red pea & rice salad ($17), and unsweetened iced tea ($2). All was good. Fries have an old bay type seasoning on them. Seafood batter was light and crispy. Reusable baskets used (yay for environmental consciousness). Plastic forks though. Red pea and rice salad is a vinegar base (like a macaroni salad) and has a bell pepper flavor to it. Recyclable cups and recycling receptacle. Order at the desk and seat yourself with a table number for them to bring food to you. Inside seating, outside seating (screened and unscreened) with view of the Cape Fear River. Clean bathrooms. Variety of draft and canned beers and ciders available. Wine, and a couple frozen cocktails. Canned soft drinks and iced tea (sweet and unsweet) available in dispenser as well as ice and water. Dog friendly.

TLDR: small portions of bland, overpriced, frozen food, served with a smile and a beautiful backdrop.

The good: the servers were friendly and brought us a (very sticky) high chair. Food was brought out quickly. The fish was actually very crispy and the (3) fried green tomatoes were great. The property has a great view of the river for a sunset.

The bad: Everything was so salty. I could brush off the salt and hear it falling on the tray liner. The fries were undercooked and soggy. The black beans were actually seasoned nicely, but they were dried out. The flounder had absolutely NO flavor, salty corn breading and then mushy watery flounder. The shrimp were rubbery. The highlight of the fish was the oysters, they were tasty but as with everything else, way too salty. The portion sizes were much smaller than I expected for the price. I ordered the “Riverview Platter” and for the extra $10 vs the single item plates I was expecting a good serving of each item. There were 3 oysters, 6 small shrimp, and one decent size piece of flounder, 3 fried green tomatoes ($1 up charge), and a sauce cup of black beans ($1 up charge). Last thing I will mention is petty and I’m aware, but beach water has a certain taste to it. For the price of this place I would expect them to have some filtration in place.

Overall: I would not return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. I’ve had better seafood 300 miles inland at a fish camp in the mountains. 2 stars for the amazing view and...

We are local to Kure Beach and this was our first visit. The restaurant was clean and well managed. We ordered at the counter and there was a pretty long line of people waiting but the process only took about 5 minutes which was really fast. The food came out about 10 minutes later and was nice and hot. We ordered the seafood combination platter which consisted of shrimp, oysters, and flounder all fried of course with two sides. The food was delicious and seemed to be of a very good quality of seafood meaning the oysters were nice and large and the flounder was thick and fluffy. All of the staff we met were friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. We sat on the outside porch which gave an awesome view of the Cape Fear River and a very nice ambience due to the setting sun just across from the river. I was thoroughly impressed and will be returning soon. I highly recommend...
