Stay Sweet Bakery & Ice Cream — Restaurant in North Carolina

My toddler and I have been frequent patrons of Stay Sweet for years. I also stopped by multiple times before having my child, so it's been years of coming to this location and I don't post this review lightly.

I will not be stopping by this place for a while if ever due to a pattern of behavior from an owner that seems to be the "norm." Everytime I bring up a legitimate issue, the owner with a long, dark ponytail, has a very expressive face, that shows when she is clearly irritated, as well as her tone and word choice are very poor in this type of situation. The way she has spoken to me every time I have brought up an issue has made me feel bad when I've done nothing wrong and the store is clearly in the wrong. Example 1: -When I was given a very warm and mushy piece of cheesecake, I proceeded to take it back up to tell someone and felt like I was given the third degree when I gave an explanation of the cheesecake situation and asked for my money back. I used those same adjectives I used above to explain to the owner and she said she still didn't understand what was wrong with it and was very short in her tone and speech with me as if I was lying and/or inconvenienced her about the cheesecake. She did take the slice back, checked the temp, and it was definitely too warm and she did give me my money back. Lo and behold their up front fridge had gone out.

Example #2 on a Separate Day -I bought a fountain drink and used their drink machine to get my soda. I tasted my drink and it was disgusting to the point I almost vomited. I took my drink back up and explained what was going on. Again, felt like I was given the third degree when I complained. The male owner went over as and tasted it and said that it was disgusting to him too. He said the line for that drink was messed up and that the Pepsi would probably have to fix the issue. Not one person offered to refund my drink.

Are these all of the examples? No, but I don't want to write a long essay. These 2 incidents happened within a month of each other near the beginning of the year. It made me feel like I had to say a prayer for nothing to go wrong every time I visited because I would have to deal with this person.

My family and I had the pleasure of visiting Stay Sweet at Fallingbrook Plaza, and I can confidently say it was one of the most heartwarming experiences we’ve had at any local business. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, cheerful, and full of good vibes.

What truly made our visit memorable wasn’t just the delicious ice cream (which was absolutely top-tier with a wide variety of unique, flavorful options)—it was the exceptional kindness and generosity of the team. Every single team member went above and beyond to make sure our family felt welcome and cared for.

You can tell that the leadership and ownership behind Stay Sweet is something special. The culture they’ve built here is one of authentic hospitality, joy, and connection with the community. It’s clear the owner doesn’t just run a business—they lead with heart.

In a world where customer service often feels rushed or impersonal, Stay Sweet reminds you what genuine care looks like. This team made us feel like more than just customers—they made us feel like guests.

We’ll absolutely be back, not only for the amazing ice cream but for the wonderful people behind the counter who make every scoop feel like a treat in more ways than one.

Today, my family and I went to stay sweet. I had only been one other time, and I believe that was a few years ago. As soon as we walked in, we could feel the hospitality and it was so nice to feel like our kids were just as welcome! They have a whole section for the kids to play and have fun! As a mother to all boys, sometimes it’s hard to feel like my kids are welcome to places. But not here! It is so family oriented. Don’t even get me started on the actual treats themselves!
