POST UPDATE: Received immediate reply from the owner (Kim) who apologized and explained the total I was charged was in error as the prior ticket had not been closed out. Kim said if I stopped back in, she would gladly reimburse the difference. I do have to say, the restaurant was very busy the day that I went (which was great), so I understand how an honest error could happen. Went back for the refund today and decided to get an order to go. Choose 2 catfish platters with onion rings and slaw…Freshly dropped in the fryer along w onion rings (which again, did not disappoint). It hit the spot! Happy to have a fried fish option close to home…Beats the long drive into town, and yes prices are very reasonable now that we figured out what happened! Think I will give that burger another shot on my next visit, but will make sure to order it ‘medium’. Nicest bonus is that the whole staff is so pleasant and friendly…..I appreciate that these days!
Prior Post: I really REALLY wanted to like this place because it is literally around the corner which is MAJOR convenient, but regretfully I was sadly disappointed. Not in the staff or ambiance; that was spot on…..it was a little over priced in my opinion (burgers were overdone, fries were just frozen crinkle cut, and the Kimmie’s cake was nothing really to rave about, although the onion rings were good). I guess the prices on web pic menu’s were outdated and unfortunately I forgot my glasses so I couldn’t see the menu very well once I got there, but I ordered anyway so that was my fault. $45.00 for 2 burgers, 1 extra side onion rings, 1 slice of cake and 2 chicken tenders pieces (1.50 each… and they were very small), no drinks. No offense, but even Chili’s offers bottomless salsa w chips, burger, fries, and a drink for 11 bucks! I’m glad they are doing well, but I will take the 20 minute drive to HWY55 next time (which always has coupon...
Read moreWent here recently and was really disappointed in the service. They were slow due to being busy but no one even spoke to us for 30 mins which i just can’t fathom how they can let that happen. We were told to set ourselves then they just never came by not for drink orders no menus NOTHING. They seated and served another table after us which was frustrating as well. I finally went to wait in line at the counter with 3-4 other jaded looking patrons who had been there awhile.
I understand being busy but they were outright rude and refused to acknowledge us which unacceptable. All i wanted was a 10 second “here is a menu Ill be with you when I can”. But even that was too much to ask for after waiting...
Read moreMason Jar Cafe has good food with a cozy hometown atmosphere. Even if food takes longer to be prepared than what is originally stated, the food is hot when it arrives at the table. However, face coverings are still REQUIRED for all businesses (public indoor settings) in the state of North Carolina. This isn't a suggestion, it's a requirement to prioritize the safety and health for all people. Not a single worker at Mason Jar wore a mask and when patrons walked in, the workers specifically stated that they didn't require masks in their business. If masks were worn, they would've received a higher rating, but until then, I will likely be...
