Those of you who know me personally know that I'm an emotional person. I definitely have my moments where I cry for just about anything. (This being one of those moments 🙄🤦🏽♀️😂) I normally don't check hidden messages on this app, but for some reason, I checked them this morning. It only shows a preview, so when I saw a “hey there”, I instantly thought this was one of those spam messages, but I clicked it anyway, only to find the sweetest message. Honesty is HUGE for me, so when I saw this woman took the time out of her busy night and probably a very long shift to send me a message to tell me that my daughter's pocketbook was left behind, it really touched me. 🥹❤️🫶🏽
My followers know I very seldom do reviews for anything other than Aldi. But I figured since I'm already posting this, I might as well let you know: we've been in North Carolina for almost 3 years and have always said that we would love to try this restaurant. I have been reluctant because I thought it was only pork served here, and I don't eat pork. But yesterday, something told me to search for the menu online. After I saw they served things that would accommodate not only myself but my children, we decided to give it a try.
As soon as we walked in, I noticed and loved the huge open space. It looked very clean and cozy. Everywhere you look had different and beautiful artwork on the walls, and I must say there wasn't a single one that I didn't like. 😍 The colors inside the restaurant were very homey and neat/clean. Above all of that, our server was a 10 out of 10. She was super friendly, very knowledgeable, and very attentive to all of her tables, not just ours. 🙌🏽
The food came out fast, and that was also a 10 out of 10. And you know how some restaurants bring out bread for you to snack on while you're waiting for your food? Well, this restaurant brings out unlimited hush puppies, and they were divine! My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich. I got a chicken sandwich, and my children got chicken tenders, mac & cheese, and fries. My kids are super picky eaters, and my son is definitely texture and smell sensitive with food. I was afraid to get the tenders because I felt that maybe they would have been huge chunks of chicken that they would not have liked. Don’t get me wrong. These tenders were huge, juicy, and packed with flavor. And within the first bite, they absolutely loved ALL of their food. My son loved their creamy macaroni and cheese and even asked his sister if he could eat hers. 😂
All in all, I would have to rate my whole experience 100 out of 10. We will definitely be going again. Shoutout to the server Kim who messaged me and put my daughter's brand-new, Simply Southern bag to the side for us to...
Read moreTo the owner. My check was $32.75. I said $9 for food I COULDN’T eat. I had 2 toddlers with me and they aren’t going to sit long enough to get something else. The collards and cabbage were not chopped at all. I probably could have eaten them if they were. And I love Brunswick stew. If it didn’t have spoiled tomatoes, I wouldn’t have said it did. Maybe they left it sitting out after cooking it. I don’t know, but after 60 years, I know spoiled food when I taste it. I had to ask for ketchup as well so technically she did bring ketchup. With fries, I shouldn’t have had to ask. My review was based solely on facts. Not a second person account that someone told me. Stopped by late this afternoon around 430 with 2 toddlers. First thing I noticed was she only left 2 forks, for 3 people. I didn’t mention it. The oldest one wanted cake before her meal and she picked out a piece but I knew she wouldn’t eat it. I selected a second dessert of yellow cake with chocolate icing. The cake was old, the icing had separated from it and I was unable to even get it to spread or stick properly. To top it off, I took a bite of collards and it wasn’t collards, it was pieces of cabbage. I didn’t know they mixed them. I took a bite of the Brunswick stew and the tomatoes in it were spoiled. I immediately spit it back in the bowl. I ordered fried pork chops. I only ate one and by the time I got home, I had to rush inside to throw up. The macaroni and cheese as well as the fries were good. I left the uneaten food on the table after mentioning to the server about what was wrong with the collards and the stew. I guess she didn’t think it was important enough to take them off my check so I didn’t think it was important to remember her tip. It cost me over $9 for food I couldn’t eat and she would have received a $10 tip. For the first time in my life I didn’t leave a respectable tip. Two toddlers can make a huge mess and today was no exception. And next time, serve ketchup when you serve fries as well as a knife for pork chops. I won’t...
Read moreI’ve tried this place a few times and it’s either been a hit or miss for me. I’ve mostly done phone orders and everytime, the person on the phone is so nice. This past time, was a gentlemen who was very sweet. I asked if I could have extra bbq sauce with my order and he said absolutely! But it seems the girls at the front counter always have a problem. My husband went in to get our food and he knows to always check if the sauce is in the bag, I was in the car with our newborn. When he came out, he said he asked if the extra sauce was in the bag and the girl said yes so I checked the bag to make sure.. no sauce at all. He went back in and asked for EXTRA sauce, he came out with 1 small bbq sauce for 2 plates. He’s the nice one, obviously. But after that, I got irritated and went inside myself. I told the girl i wanted extra bbq sauce, she told me that we got some and I said I got ONE small container of sauce for two plates, that’s not enough. She then proceeded to tell me that I had to pay for extra sauce, which isn’t a big deal.. I’ll pay for extra sauce but if that was the case, then communicate that in the first place. Don’t lie and say my sauce is in the bag when it’s not and when we ask for extra, explain that it costs for extra without an attitude. I paid $3.18 for 3 extra sauces… lmao. I didn’t know sauce was a delicacy like that but if I have 2 “bbq” plates, sauce shouldn’t be so hard to come by and have to be asked numerous times especially if the meat is a tad dry, someone is gonna need some sauce. The place is super cute and the food is okay, maybe I always just catch the girls on a bad day but I hardly ever have great experiences with them. The gentleman answering the phone however was very nice to me and he also greeted my husband when he walked in the first time. Maybe he should be the one handling the front counter, his attitude was a lot better than the girls I’ve interacted...
