I went yesterday to check the place out. I tried going on the weekend previously, but they were closed. I had to ring the doorbell for someone to open the front door. I was greeted by one of the roasters, I think her name was Megan? I told her that I was looking at upgrading my coffee game and she walked me through their beans.

She let me try some of the darker roasts and lighter roasts that they offer. You can purchase cups of coffee hot or cold brew. I ended up talking about one of the more citrusy coffees that I had liked in the past and she recommended an Ethiopian bean. Ended up walking out with a cup and two bags of beans. 10/10 customer experience.

Today I tried the Ethiopian via French press using the James Hoffman method. Let me tell you, this is the BEST cup of coffee (black) that I have ever made at home. The complexity of the flavor, freshness of the beans and the ability to pick out different flavor notes put this in the S tier for sure. I will be visiting next month to try out some more....

Coffee was great and so was the service until I was told I could not use cash. When I mentioned that cash is legal tender and therefore must be accepted (as is printed on our money) the cashier became snarky and argumentative. Not cool. Since I was on my way to an appointment, I decided not to push the issue. However I will not go back, no matter how good the coffee, and I will not recommend King Bean to any of my Patriotic friends or followers. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Charleston that are happy to take our American dollars. Not accepting cash is simply un-American and...

I drove by this place and saw the building and how pretty it was and saw they served coffee, so I turned around and went in. I was so impressed with this place. It was very clean and nice inside. The people are so nice and inviting. They took the time to explain to me about the coffee and how it is grown here , how it originated, how some of the restaurants use the coffee they grow. It was veryvery nice. I will definitely go back. They do have a rewards punch card for people like me who enjoy rewards.lol ..Oh the serve cold...
