A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE YOUNG MAN WORKING AT FLYING J SUBWAY: ISAIAH!!!

My first job was working at a Subway, when I was just 15 years old. I can tell you, Subway employees do not make a lot of money.

After getting my order, and my drink… as I was walking out the door, I heard Isaiah tell the old man that was after me… that his card declined, again. I stood waiting… if the old man couldn’t pay for his meal, I was going to pay for it, for him. Isaiah told the man that he could go ahead and take the sandwich. After a moment of hesitation, and insistence from Isaiah, the man walked away with his sandwich.

I walked up to Isaiah and asked him if he would for me to pay for the man’s food. Isaiah told me: “No, I got it.” I assumed that Isaiah was going to comp it on the computer. Instead, Isaiah reached for his cash tips. I immediately, touched my card to the reader and paid for it.

As I was walking out, tears flooded into my eyes. I turned back to Isaiah, and told him that he made me cry. I said, “You are so sweet, I can’t believe that you were going to use you own tip money to pay for that man’s sandwich.

Isaiah completely melted my heart. So much compassion, at such a young age. Isaiah wasn’t going to let someone go hungry.

The customer service I received at this Subway location ranks among the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I arrived at 9:40 p.m. — well before their posted closing time of 10 p.m. I understood I was cutting it close, but I was traveling overnight in a semi and this was my only option for food.

When I approached the counter, I was told they were closed. I pointed out that it was 9:45, not 10, but the employee insisted they were out of food. I asked if they had enough to make a basic turkey sandwich, and was met with attitude and sarcasm — even being made to feel like I was the problem for asking.

What made it worse is that after reluctantly making my order, the employees proceeded to make food for their friends who came in after me. Clearly, they had product available, they simply didn’t want to serve paying customers. The sandwich I did receive was poorly made and tasted terrible.

As someone who passes through this town monthly, I can confidently say I will never stop at this Subway again — nor will I spend money at the attached gas station where we typically fuel up and spend hundreds of dollars. This location lost a loyal customer permanently due to disrespectful service, dishonesty, and an unwillingness to do their job until...

Just a suggestion for the manager or the owner the person working on this Wednesday (MLK) evening at around 7 pm is a keeper was the kindest person i have seen in food service i am veg and mostly hesitate to ask for changing cloves coz ofcorse they r very busy some tym but they said of course in a very polite manner , was a pro at what they were doing made the wrap and sub perfectly . I generally avoided going to this subway coz of my previous experiences but will definitely b coming...
