Table of four 80.00 bill. 1st ordered egg and home fries, and coffee (charge for a full meal) 2nd ordered fruit bowl home fries and sausage off sides menu and coffee (charged for full meal) 3rd ordered steak and egg meal and water with lemon (reg price) 4th ordered chicken bacon ranch sandwich and water with lemon. Waited 20 mins where another table was waiting just as long and got up and left. Had to ask another waitress to get my mom a coffee while we waited for order food. Took 35 mins to get our food and 3 of the 4 got food while the fourth waited another 10 mins for the sandwich while everyone else was eating. Had to ask twice for lemons for water. Waitress came to table twice and was bitching at kitchen about my sandwich order not being right and them being slow cause she lost a table of customers while waiting. When got order we asked about price and waitress said byo meant choosing what they wanted for meal got charged for 2 orders of sausage not 1 order. If two were senior citizens that didn't want full meal order were almost 14.00 if not more each. Didn't get a senior citizen discount on coffee either. Waitress didn't seem she wanted to do anything to help us with our questions. Still don't understand even after her saying it is was it is for byo orders. When in all actuality they won't a meal. I've been coming to that Dennys for years as a trucker, a regular customer passing by in travels cause ne er had a issue, but can tell you this this Denny's lost 4 customers from ever coming back and stopping other truckers we know from.stopping there..Never again. Please don't say well prices and other things changed. The four of us could have went to upscale restaurant that we go to often or even golden corral at Flying J in Elkton and not...
Read moreThe door sign says they’re open Monday until 12 am. Online it says they’re open 24 hours. Regardless we assumed the safer bet that it closed at midnight. We walked in at 11:30 pm to grab a super quick bite. My husband and I have both worked in the service industry and never want to be those assholes that show up a minute right before closing. But we figured 30 minutes was fair because they already had the grill on and were visibly cooking things in the back, and we were starving so the food wouldn’t have sit on that plate very long. We sit down at the bar and nobody is there so we wait a few minutes. I see one girl in the back peek from under the grill hood. She says something to another worker who walks up front and says “hi sorry we’re closed”. We tell them the sign taped at the front door says they’re open until midnight on Mondays which is 30 min from now. She then says “oh we’re only open to online orders right now”.
Are you kidding me? So are you open or are you closed? Or are you just being grimy to get out of working? You can cook for online orders from now until close (which is a whole half hour from now) but can’t serve anybody who walks in well before your closing time?
First off, change the sign at the door to actually say that clearly so people are aware. Second, change the hours online to actually match that as well. And third, this is a Dennys, nobody expects an extravagant steakhouse or gourmet-type of food quality. All we wanted was quick food and if you can make online orders for the next 30 minutes I don’t see why making food for people walking in is an issue. Especially if at that time if they’re coming in for dinner it’s VERY likely they already know what they’re going to order and anything, even Denny’s,...
Read moreSo I picked up a load in Elkton Maryland and I stopped at the flying j in Northeast Maryland. Which happens to have a Denny's. Which I happen to be obsessed with (Denny's that is.)
So I couldn't resist stopping in for t-bone which is my favorite. Well as soon as I walk in a young lady acknowledges me and says I'll be right with you. I mentioned that because it is rare for me...(I have been left standing in the front of places, waiting to be seated for 20 minutes or so, with no acknowledgement.)
Also upon entering I noticed how well kept and clean and organized everything was. I pay close attention to detail I have a bit of OCD.
This young lady's name was Mackenzie. She was working by herself hosting, serving and cleaning. That surprised me, because of how clean everything was and how attentive she was.
Now she made sure I had all the bells and whistles without even having to ask... extra napkins, French vanilla, refills on the coffee... she was great!!!
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better...I received my food. Let me tell you!!!! T-bone was perfect! Red skinned potatoes were just how I like them and the eggs were sooo good 😋. Come to find out it was a young man named Anton (18 yrs old), doing ALL of the cooking by himself. I am a foodie and being a truck driver, I visit a lot of places over the road... particularly Denny's or Country Pride. I have to say within the last 10 years this is one of the best meals I've had.
This young man cooks better than people that have been at it longer than he's been on this earth.
I am just grateful for an amazing experience. I thank God for sending me that way...I truly enjoyed my meal...
