Read moreThe inside of the this restaurant is quite cozy and very welcoming. There's also a fireplace that you can sit near. They had a impressive selection of draft beer which included Singlecut, Deciduous, Lawson's Finest Liquids, Lord Hobo and other popular breweries (local and not). We went here for the lord of the wings challenge and had their buffalo wings. They were pretty good! We also had Sip of Sunshine on draft which was great! For our meal we had the Back Mac and my husband added pulled pork to it. The dish advised there was ritz cracker crumble but I did not think there was much of it at all. At first, we felt the macaroni and cheese was liquidy, but as we continued to eat it we enjoyed it more and more. Their choice of pasta for this dish are bowties which is a little different but the dish was still enjoyable and cheesy! We felt the pulled pork was too saucy but it balanced well with the macaroni and cheese. Overall, portion size is a good size. The staff seemed to all get along together and our waiter was nice. It's nice to see a new restaurant in the area and it's across from the Tilted Barn Brewery as well! Another plus is that they provide a military discount (10%)!We also recently came here for brunch which was a nice variety of breakfast and lunch items. I had the waffle of the day with heath bar, chocolate chips, oreos and chocolate sauce which was good and quite sweet. I did find the price quite high for the waffle or even as a side it was $8 and the waffle is more on the smaller size. My husband had huevos rancheros which was very good besides us not knowing it came in a tortilla bowl but it was a nice presentation! He also enjoyed his side of sausage. My father in law had the mushroom and goat cheese omelet that he enjoyed. The hash browns were like soft full fingerling potatoes which we were surprised. We thought it would have had been more like crispy and sliced potatoes. He also would have had preferred crispier bacon - but that's his personal opinion as some would be happy with that. Overall we enjoyed the new brunch menu and their nice selection of food and beverages. It's nice that they also include a good selection of burgers and salads as well! I also have had the fish and chips and it...
Read moreI live about 2 miles from B40. I have eaten there about a dozen times since they opened. However, the frequency of our visits has declined sharply. It is hard to put a finger on what misses about B40 because many things are good. The service is attentive, the restaurant is clean and well decorated. The bar area is friendly and welcoming and the food isn't that bad. However, the menu is a bit eclectic. There is a little bit of "pub grub" (burgers, wings, nachos), the usual dinner suspects (pulled pork, chicken parm and fish & chips) but then there is Chinese (kung pao chicken, dan dan noodles), there are oddball items you dont usually see at a "pubby" place (buffalo cauliflower, deviled eggs, brussel sprouts, beet & Burata salad, black bean and quinoa burger). It's an odd mix of "can't miss" regular items and eclectic offerings. It feels like it's trying to be everything to everyone. My other criticism is the seating for diners only. Great care was taken to make people comfortable in the pub area (couches, hidden corners, nice bar, high tops and couches), but the diners were an afterthought. There are no booths, very little room and you feel on top of the neighboring table. You need to watch your conversation because it's easy to eaves drop. When they are very busy, they set up an extra row of tables in the middle of the serving floor making it even less comfortable. Finally, the chairs they use are uncomfortable. Finally the parking. I didn't lead with this because it seems steps are being taken to improve the abysmal parking situation. They have way too few spots for their seating capacity. But it seems they are adding spots in the back to relieve the parking pressure. This was much needed. To improve B40, I would rebuild the diner seating area to include booths or add privacy with half walls. I would fix the menu to be less eclectic and I would ensure the parking expansion gets completed. Close,...
