Twisted Tiki Sports Bar & Pizzeria — Restaurant in North Liberty

On December 3, 2022 I sadly had to have the funeral for my daughter Laura, who had died suddenly. And I had needed a venue to have a luncheon or late luncheon and the first thing that popped in my head was the TWISTED TIKI. She loved going there for dinner. So we contacted them asked if they could accommodate about 40 or 50 people and that’s when I learned of their new smokehouse menu. Ida is a remarkable woman. She is the owner and her waite staff phenomenal! They were so accommodating, so helpful made everyone just feel like they were special. But now let me get to the food. I cannot begin to rave at the brisket. The flavor was like nothing I’ve ever had before the barbecue pork my daughter would have been elated over that barbecue pork. To the coleslaw, the mac & cheese, and the pizza and I don’t usually like pizza but I’m gonna tell you this that was the best. A lot of my friends came from the Chicago area and want to come back even if it’s an hour or so away just to have dinner at the Twisted Tiki. If you haven’t experienced dinner or a couple of drinks or just the atmosphere than I suggest to you get to the twisted Tiki in FISH LAKE, Indiana it will be an experience of your lifetime and you will want to continue to come back. My daughter is resting in peace now and it’s going to be a long road to come to terms with that. But if I can make it a point to get to the tiki and have dinner and be amongst so many wonderful, friendly people then I will feel at peace and know my daughter is with me. Decor was Majestic and spot on. It was clean, even bathrooms. Food was just "wow!" I'd drive an hour and half for this place, pool table, huge draft beers. 1 Concern was speed of service. Had to wait a tad longer than in a $100 a meal restaurant but my meal with appetizers and tip was $55. So ok, good food plus decor = wait times. But not 5 stars because they have appetizer sauce options and hot wing sauces and they messed up sauce choices, which are limited and specific to what you are order, not once but twice. The waitresses was trying but just management issues with sauces specific complications seem completely impossible for us and definitely for the waitresses. For a 55 dollar meal management fell out on their complicated limitations on seriously tiny sauce cups. Lost a star being stingy. 1 sauce for this but 2 for that.. just weak....

Order a cheeseburger with regular fries. Then ordered chicken strips with waffle fries. The cheeseburger was horribly bland and tasted like a plant based burger, it was the worst burger I've had from there. Then the chicken strip where very dark like the oil they are fried in hadn't been changed in weeks. Usually they are light and golden so juicy inside. So I'd say different cooks or just not caring about making customers happy. Makes me want to stop going there to get food when it used to be a really good place for food. Also 3 years ago my husband used to get a pizza everyFriday. Now we barely get one every 6 months just to hope it'll go back to tasting magnificent, however no high hopes. Just don't get how hard it is to ruin a sausage cheese pizza yet it has happened there...
