The owner literally ACCOSTED and SHOUTED at me and my wife.
AFTER we were seated at our table, the server told us that today was their last day at that location, and as a result, they didn't have all of their menu items. We drove an hour to get there, and although we were disappointed, we decided to stay.
While ordering, we asked for the peach cobbler, but we were then told they didn't have peach cobbler either. I asked our server if they'd be willing to give us a discount since we drove such a long way (a 2-hour round trip) just to be disappointed by the fact that several items we had hoped to order weren't available. She seemed to understand, responding that that wouldn't be a problem.
Disappointingly, after the food was delivered to our table, the owner came over and was visibly upset, ready for a fight. I was thrown off by his demeanor and was confused by what was going on. He asked us why we had asked for a discount and we explained why. He then told us, "I'm not going to give you a discount," and started SHOUTING at us!!! I couldn't believe what was going on. He was shouting things like, "I've been doing this for 40 years" (which was completely irrelevant) and "you should be glad we're even open" (which makes no sense, we had no idea they were changing locations). He even started getting mad at us because he had fewer customers today compared to other days...as if it was our fault! I couldn't believe the way he was talking to us, let alone to my wife. After he stormed off, we left the restaurant since it didn't feel safe.
For the quality of the food, all I ate was the brisket, and it was not good. It was extremely inconsistent; most of it was dry and hard. If I had to guess, I'd say they probably mixed old brisket in with newer brisket in an attempt to get rid of their remaining inventory.
I've never experienced anything like this before. To say that the owner doesn't know customer service and doesn't value his customers is an extreme understatement—the man doesn't value human beings! My wife is from the south, so she knows good barbecue and she knows southern manners. The owner of this restaurant...
Read moreWOW! Having traveled the country extensively for work, I have been to many barbecue restaurants in Tennessee, Texas, Kansas City and the Carolinas. All bbq capitals. Many have been ranked as some of the best in the country. I can honestly say that Lush’s ranked with them all and in some regards beat them. The brisket was amazing. The perfect smoke, bark, tenderness and flavor. The company colleague I was traveling with said it was the best he’s ever had, I agree! The homemade sauces, which we bought numerous bottles to take home, was incredible and like nothing I have ever had before. Let me not forget the samples of all of the other meats and cornbread, all on par with their exceptional level. Richie, you are a master chef and smoker! The ambience and decor of the restaurant was so very well done and deserves mention. The designer has a wonderful eye and skill for completing the total experience! The staff was also so very friendly, knowledgeable and so welcoming. It was a pleasure meeting them and talking barbecue. Many thanks to Richie and Nadine for their hospitality! Greatly appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to our return, nest time with family. I also want to thank you for the Park City ski recommendations and the Elk stew special we had on our second visit. That too was amazing! We felt like we were with family and again, cannot wait for our...
Read moreOh my goodness, I would gladly move to Park City just to eat at this hidden gem every day.
Rich is such a kind, hospitable gentleman. He greeted us with kindness, offered a sample of the mustard slaw when we inquire about it, and guided us on ordering when we asked based on what was freshly made.
I ordered the two meat combo that came with two sides. I selected the beef ribs and the brisket with the corn bread and the gnocchi potato salad and added a side of beans as well.
The brisket and the beef ribs were I N C R E D I B L E. Bursting with flavor, moist, smoked to perfection. The portion was quite generous and I wasn't able to stop eating until it was all gone.
The corn bread is made in a waffle iron --GENIUS! It also has pepper baked into it. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, unique, delicious, and so satisfying.
Highly recommend the gnocchi potato salad. Also pure genius and delicious.
While we were devouring our amazing lunch, Rich came and told us there was peach cobbler fresh out the oven. I was bursting and yet I couldn't say no. The cobbler was absolutely DEVINE. It was crispy on the top and side so moist at the bottom --similar to a bread pudding.
This place is a MUST visit. I will most...
