Fish-chix — Restaurant in North Versailles

I'm a newcomer to this place and I always wanted to try it and thought the reviews being perfect would clearly be fabricated somehow. I tried it the other night on a whim and called 15 minutes before they closed, which I never do, always give a full hour before close time to order. He was very kind and professional and thought I would come back. They use that white seasoning (like Adobo) alot of fish fry places use at times but this one is a little different, better maybe. I have not tried the fish yet but we will, the fries are decent, a large order is plenty for 5+ people, depending. I'm a chicken tender guy, and I'm telling you, dude makes a dynamite chicken tender. With that corn starch type thin crispy but not overcooked thin breading with some darker tones but not overcooked, like I thought at first. Why spend 25-30 bucks for a 12 piece KFC chicken tender meal when you can get 15 hot, fresh, well seasoned, juicy and perfectly cooked homemade tenders for 35 bucks? Sometimes you gotta go cheap cheap but a couple extra bucks for something made that someone cares about is worth it, if you can handle it. I'll update on the fish and other small items later but so far. Two visits in the same week just to make sure I wasnt just hungry the first time.....nah, you snap that first tender open, twist it and it snaps apart into a little bite size piece and its steamy and juicy, nah. Let me stop. Dont want to go to jail. I will say this though, only critique. Work on the sauce game. Regular vinegar red hot sauce, regular bbq is a cute way of saying your chicken doesnt even need sauce, cuz I can not use it and it's cool. But you come up with a few homemade sauces. A buffalo sauce cooked up, a horseradish life-like sauce, a gold bbq, a vinegar bbq, extra hot for someone crazy, just maybe like 4 or 5 sauces and you got something really going. Appreciate ya. I see this place on my drive home, and decide to stop in cause I don't want to bother with dinner. First thing I see at the counter are these tiny cups of seasoning listed for $1 and I'm thinking that's weird and I'll just order a meal and go.

I order this 5pc chicken tenders meal and I'm informed that it'll be a wait while I'm basically the only one there. Now I'm thinking this is either a really good sign or a really bad sign.

I turn around to go sit and wait and I see this beautiful super clean Angel Fish tank. Man these fish looked super healthy, they're in better shape than the fish stores around here.

When my food is ready, I go up to grab it, but the man at the counter that took my order asks me if I need any sauce, and I'm just like I want my food, sure why not and he's giving the impression that I've drastically under estimated this food. He's like no you want sauce, BBQ, hot sauce, ranch, and I'm like idk I've never had it before idk what sauce it needs, I'll take hot sauce sure. He's like you need ranch too right? And I'm all sure why not and take it to my car.

Now I'm at my car and I've got this nagging thought that I've just gotta try this before heading home. I'm not lying when I say I ate that whole meal in my car. I burnt my mouth on it, and decided to finish it at home, but it was so good that I couldn't stop. I kept stealing a bite here and there on my drive home. I devoured that entire thing and I didn't give it justice. It deserved so much better than to have been eaten while driving.

I'll be going back and getting more, enough to share, and more of that seasoning. Totally a must buy for $1...

Fresh food with friendly service

I ordered the chicken and fish mix n match combo, I also got a order of shrimp. The combo came with 3 very nice sized tenders and 2 nice sized fillets of cod. (They also serve catfish) The sides were fries and coleslaw which were both delicious and the shrimp were a great size and fried perfectly. All of the food was hand battered and fried in a very clean open view kitchen. The portions are very generous and it’s worth the money. Also the seasoning they dust their food in outshines the sauce the light salty tangy and zesty flavor had me putting away my dipping sauces. On top of hand breaded fried food they go one step further with friendly service and homemade desserts and a large menu. You should be able to find something for everyone here and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for home cooked flare in...
