Have been waiting for a while to try this place since they opened. The early reviews weren’t favorable, and the prices seemed a bit more expensive than what I am used to paying at a “diner”. I was hoping the reviews would get better, and saw a couple of positive e, but still wasn’t sold. Only thing I was able to notice was the lack of recent business at the diner. The first couple of weeks seemed busy at lunch and dinner time, but the last week and a half or two the place seems dead. They originally had breakfast scheduled, but that ended very soon. As for breakfast, I think they should start with weekends only...IF they can get the prices to a reasonable level (Ed Petruccelli mentioned a $50 breakfast tab for 2 adults and 2 6-year olds in his Google review)! Shorty thereafter, breakfast was canceled completely. Had a friend in from out of town and decided we would give the new place a go. Picked him up at his hotel near the airport and drove up to Laurys Station, only to find the restaurant closed with a sign on the door that read; “We are closed due to lack of staff. Sorry for any inconvenience.” Then I decided to grab some beer at the distributor in the back, only to find out they were no longer there....it appears from what is on the shelves inside (through the window) the restaurant is using the building for dry storage. I think it will take a bit more convincing to try this place. Not saying “no”, but not jumping at “yes” either.

The Laurys Station American Grill is a very welcomed addition to the community since the last diner closed a few years back. My wife and I went for dinner last night, there was a lot of confusion amongst the staff. We were promptly seated and given drinks, but then sat and waited over 25 minutes for someone to take our order. I got the brisket burger which was ok, few crispy onions but a good amount of cheese. Unfortunately, it was very reminiscent of a frozen patty cooked on a griddle. My wife got the four piece fried chicken, there wasn’t a lot of meat on the bones and it was fried very hard. Fries were ok, also tasted like frozen boring fries. I look forward to trying the grill for breakfast which is only served from 6:30-11am. I understand growing pains of a new restaurant and we will probably be back to try it again someday. Update April 2022: Their hours are now 11am-8pm and closed Monday’s. So much for trying them out for breakfast!

Stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with this local treasure. My server, Kristen, was courteous, attentive and has the perfect hospitality personality. I ordered the smothered burger which came with a cup of soup and fries. The soup choices of the day were chicken noodle, vegetable and lobster bisque. I opted for the bisque. It was hot, thick, creamy and perfectly seasoned. The burger was 6 ounces of beef topped with onions, green peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. It was fabulous. One of the attractions of this diner is breakfast served all day. On my afternoon visit I noticed several customers ordering breakfast. The menu is extensive so my next visit will be a tough selection process.

Before you read this,my wife and i have never complained or wrote a review, but this time its a must!! We had a horrible experience with our meal. We ordered the surf and turf 10oz filet, and twin 4 Oz lobster tails. $45.99...it was not a filet. Was cooked to medium rare but The steak was so tough I couldn't even cut it or chew it,my wife spit it out! I chewd my half and swallowed it down because it was so expensive and I was hungry. The lobster, was absolutely disgusting. 1 of the 2 tails was dark grey,(I have pictures) smelled Like it was dunked in bleach water and I COULDNT EVEN CHEW IT WAS LIKE RUBBER! I sadly took one bite and threw it away. Mashed taters were bland and tasted like instant. The creamed spinach had zero flavor. The salad was at least fresh. We also ordered the bacon wrapped scallops for appetizer, $13.99 overcooked but edible. We spent $65.00 on one appetizer and one entree..NEVER AGAIN! I have had some decent food here, don't get me wrong, burgers etc., but never order seafood here!! Diners should stick to diner food.we threw away everything except a small piece of steak and the salad. I ate 3 scallops my wife threw all of hers out! What a waste! We posted some pictures. Look under recent photos. The lobster that we received was in one hand. Potatoes tasted like water. Spinach extremely bland. We had maybe 5 bites. Bacon wrapped scallops were not wrapped. Just bacon and scallops way over cooked. Got the rice pudding for dessert. Literally four bites. It was a tiny cup that fit in the palm of my hand. All the sides....gravy etc. we're extremely tiny. Don't get food to go. We went there because it was close to home. Assante is the call. You get an exquisite meal for less. You get what you pay for. Family run. Haven't had one bad meal. Pizza, burgers to gourmet meals. INTERESTING....ALL OF MY PHOTOS DISAPPEARED. I'LL REPOST THEM WHEN I GET...

Coming in. I had high hopes for the new opening. In the past, the place that was there before had phenomenal food, fresh and cooked to a high standard, and was very accommodating. Upon coming in this afternoon, we were greeted and sat down in a timely manner. They brought out our drinks and this is where our first problem was. We had brought our 4 year old child and could not find a children's menu. Upon bringing it up to our waitress, she seemed a bit confused and went to see if they had one. About 10 minutes went by before she came back and verbally told us what was on it. I get it. They are still new and not everything is perfect yet. We ordered our drinks and they were out of raspberry tea and could only offer unsweetened tea, which was fine. Not a big deal. After about 5 minutes, our waitress came back with our poutine fries, which were very basic. The cheese curds were a little bland and soft. The gravy was good. About 10 minutes later we ordered our food and we ended up getting the brisket burger and the spicy corn and cheese nuggets. The nuggets were absolutely inedible. One bite, the spices hit my tongue immediately and overwhelmed every single taste. The consistency was everywhere. Some corn was hard to the bite while others were soft. Some of the cheese was melted while the rest was solid. The brisket burger was disappointing. It felt like they went out and bought a box of bubba burgers from giant and used that, calling it brisket. The sauce was barely there. There were many 3 or 4 onions on the burger. The only good thing we got was the chicken fingers for my son. They were crispy and juicy. And came with a free ice cream. Maybe in the future I will stop by again. But not for a...
