Let me first start off with the good. The atmosphere was perfect, the wait to be seated was not very long, and some items we ordered tasted great. The experience I had, however, was awful. Once we were seated and had our food order placed (smoked ham eggs benedict, hash and eggs, pancakes, rice and beans), we waited for AN HOUR for our food to come out. Our waitress never checked in at all to alert us of why it was taking so long. She only took our order, brought our drinks, and the next time she came over was to deliver our food an hour later. Apparently the normal amount of time to wait for a meal at this restaurant is 50 minutes, but I was completely unaware of that. As anyone would be. So my girlfriend and I were just sitting at our table for an hour, no communication from our waitress, wondering why it was taking so long. When our food did come, I asked why the food took an hour, and she gave me a rushed response along the lines of “we’re a cook down today so it’s only 2 cooks for the entire restaurant and also it usually takes around 50 minutes anyway for food to come out but sorry about that”. Now, my girlfriend and I are the most understanding people, both of us have worked in restaurants and the service industry in general for several years, but sitting down waiting for an entire hour for brunch? Without knowing anything of why it was taking so long? That’s not cool. We would have asked our waitress why earlier, but she never checked in with us so we never got the chance. It made us feel entirely uncomfortable and not wanted as a guest in this restaurant. We did talk to the manager as well because we truly felt like we didn’t get a good experience, and he brushed us off and we ended up paying the full price on the bill and leaving. We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, if someone had told us that it would take at least 50 minutes average for meals to come out we would have been more prepared and understanding. If our waitress came to tell us they were short staffed and the kitchen is taking longer than usual, no problem at all!! I’ve been there! I completely understand! But just the way we were treated was honestly uncomfortable and unacceptable. So many more spots in Maine that will actually be friendly with you and make you feel welcome. Don’t come here.

We were greeted by smiling faces, a beautiful bath of sunlight in the gorgeously renovated space, and, for lack of self control, a warm apple cinnamon donut. (Trust me, dont practice your self control here, it was the best donut I've ever had!) Pro tip: donuts pair well with coffee, and their coffee is truly superb. You can even self-select your favorite mug from a great collection! The menu offered a delicious balance of brunch classics and unique creations inspired by chef's talents and strengths - theres something for everybody! The farm to table food was absolutely outstanding, the presentation a work of art, and the vibe of the whole place felt so inviting! We drove over 100 miles for this perfect morning with family and delicious food, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks to the crew at the Hoot, you're doing ALL the things right ❤

Three of us had breakfast on a weekend. This is one of the best breakfast places in the state of Maine. The service is both professional, very well trained and very caring. I was impressed and we had not even ordered yet! It’s a cloth napkin establishment which has been arranged to allow space and intimacy so you don’t feel crowded and it feels light and airy. On your way in, I suggest you swing by the coffee bar as it saves you from getting up again after your seated. The cup selection is great. The menu is innovative and unusual so there are options for both the classic and the adventurer. I’m to understand the menu is dynamic. Our food came out quickly and the quality was excellent. I highly recommend this breakfast. The chef understands both the foundation of a good dish and the attention to detail to make a restaurant stand out.

It was quite the hoot because our brunch service was comical from start to finish. We made a reservation for the dining room through Resy to close out our anniversary weekend. We were sat promptly but in the room where there were high top tables only (you could reserve these or outdoor dining as an alternative option). Okay, no big deal. Our hostess then informed us that they were "all out of menus" and would be back with some when available. I mean the place was busy, but there were open tables. Okay, we eventually got menus and waited several minutes to order. Our server came over about 30 mins later to inform us the "kitchen was a mess" and that they have closed the restaurant 1h30mins early. Overheard him telling another table that it was not because they were too busy but that the kitchen "messed up". I am guessing the food and beverage order? To save some time on this review, the food took about 45 mins to arrive (eggs, toast, potatoes, sausage, wife got bacon). The food came out luke warm to cold. The only thing sort of hot were the potatoes. They were out of english muffins (that means none of the benedicts), out of biscuits (no biscuits and gravy). They have a self-serve cofee bar, which is a good idea but they ran out of coffee (many patrons asked for it repeatedly), ran out of tea, ran out of many other drinks (we overheard other customers going through the list of things they attempted to order). We noticed that other tables had carafes of water and asked another staff member. She apologized that we did not get one...guess why? They were out of carafes. She did locate one and brought us some water. Then we waited and waited for our check. We went up to the bar/host area where the staff was socializing and enjoying drinks or maybe drinking their sorrows away. We felt like we were interrupting, requesting that we pay our bill so we could leave. Our server checked us out with a touch of attitude. I hope he shares his tips with the food runners and hosts because he really did not deserve a dime.

Obviously they were going through some issues today and can only review based off my experience today, but it was not good....not even average. I forgot to add the cobwebs, flies and spiders all around the window casings were very off putting, but we stayed to give it a chance. We should have taken the first few signals and left within the first few minutes. This place has promise, but they were way off...

This place has a great idea, the owners both have farms where they grow all the vegetables and meat and they create dishes and sell it in the restaurant. Was really excited to try this place, the night we came was"French Night" they are only open for 2 dinners on Thursdays and Mondays and they do a theme. They was only 1 Entree choice and they had 4 or 5 choices for small plates. So we tried 3 of the small plates and then the entree. The French onion soup was first and it was not really that flavor, it tasted very flat, we didn't finish it. We had Ratatouille, it was great, all fresh vegetables and super great flavor, we all loved it. We had shrimp in white wine sauce it was also really great and flavorful but I don't think the shrimp are local. Then the entree came, it was chicken, beef and pork cheek in lentils and beans. But the dish was a big disappointment. For having so much in the dish and so many ingredients it lacked something and out of 4 of us, we shared 2 entrees and didn't finish either, it just was so bland no one wanted to eat it.

I think this place looks beautiful and I really hope they succeed because everyone is so nice and I love the idea of what they are doing, but the night we went we just left not really feeling that happy and felt like it was just and...
