I am torn as to what rating to really give this. The food was about a 3.5 but the service was about a 2. I called Boomers today to place my first order with this restaurant - I've heard great things about their subs! I asked if they could make a Chicken, Bacon & Ranch sub. Being a common sandwich I didn't think it would be a problem. The girl on the phone (was obviously new because she had to ask someone the same questions I asked her) told me they couldn't do anything like that. Okay, no biggie, can I have a steak and cheese sub? Ordered that then asked if I could get a grilled chicken sandwich with grilled veggies, again she told me no they couldn't do that. She then told me they didn't do any kind of chicken subs. I found this to be a little odd but, maybe they just don't have chicken. I asked her what kind of subs they have. She listed the subs then named the Ebwich (Boiled ham, GRILLED CHICKEN and CRISPY BACON!?!?!🤔) I chuckled a little, not trying to be difficult because I knew she was new, then asked if I could order that but without the ham and add ranch??? She put me on hold (for the 3rd time now) came back and said yes.
I get to the restaurant and go into the take out section, which is directly in front of the kitchen, to pick up my food. She went back to check on it and I hear the lady in the back say "she's going to have to wait!" Which wasn't a big deal, I wasn't in a hurry. I asked if I could pay for it and the young girl said no. The cook had the slip so I'm going to have to wait. I could tell they may have been a little irritated with my request for an "odd" sandwich.
Now for the food; my "chicken, bacon & ranch" had cold grilled chicken, delicious crispy bacon, MAYO, and cheese with ranch on the side!?!?
The steak and cheese was very good! I would recommend that but just know they WILL NOT grill veggies for you to put on it.
The food was good enough where I will likely order there again but I now have a menu and know how to critique a menu item so I don't irritate...
Read moreI was on vacation with my friends family in Norway ME and we decided we were going to go out to eat rather late in the day and we didn't want to drive about an hour for outstanding food and outstanding service so we settled on Boomers and boy was that a mistake. The first impression we have of this place is when we walked in we were greeted by a waitress who was walking past us in the opposite direction. We said the sign said "seat yourself can we seat ourselves outside?" She said in a very condescending tone "that's included in seating yourself" We ordered food and drinks. 5 of us and she brought over 6 drinks, "I think i brought one to many bud lites" The food comes and the food tasted alright, being in Maine i ordered a lobster roll that had more mayo than a 16oz jar of hellmans the lobster to mayo ratio was very disproportionate. Someone else's meal was supposed to come with cole slaw and fries but they were nowhere to be found. We would have complained and asked for them if our waitress every came around to check on us. We kept letting her know we wanted the check and a half an hour passed from when we asked for it to when we actually got it. She exclaimed "someone called out" The only good thing i can say that we were all shocked was that the pizza had fresh mushrooms and they weren't canned. Do not let the abundance of vehicles in the parking lot confuse you, this is a very poorly run restaurant and they are only busy because they are the only one for miles in each direction. I wish i could give a zero star rating because that is what they deserve. Do yourself a favor and drive the hour for great food and great...
Read moreHonestly the best experience I've had in a restaurant since moving to Maine 1 year ago and we have tried many many restaurants all over the state! The service was really good. The woman was super nice, attentive and kind. I had the Fish and Chips and can say without a doubt it was the best Fish I've ever had in my life. I mentioned to the waitress how much I loved it and she told me fresh fish was delivered there daily which I love that! My husband had the Party Melt and says he wishes they used more seasoning but the burger was cooked to perfection and the grilled rye bread had a great colour and texture to it. Once he added a bit of salt it was good to go. My 3 year old son had a burger and fries and it was the first burger we've ever gotten him to finish in any restaurant so I'd say he really likes it!
The restaurant seemed clean and of course has such a beautiful view. They have options for both indoor and outdoor seating but we choose indoor today because it's hot and I have a small child. We are definitely impressed with this place and now consider it our favourite restaurant in Maine and we only live 15 minutes away so looking forward to coming back again and I hope next time will be as good be...
