Hale Aina Dining Facility — Restaurant in Oʻahu

We've been in and out of Hickam for the last 3 weeks as I spent some of my terminal leave here. We've eaten here 6 times. My wife, three young kids and mother-in-law. This chow hall has been our go-to. They are very polite workers and it seems to be a contract with a company that helps those with special needs for some of the positions. The food is fine. They have the main line and then the burger and bad for you food line. Decent salad bar and choice of drinks. My young children have really enjoyed interacting with some of the workers cleaning the dinning area and being playful playing peekaboo and such. My wife, who know some ASLhas enjoyed talking to the deaf employee. It's never very crowded at all and the prices are very good. Most of the staff was friendly, just not the one I dealt directly with. An hour before they close they ran out of pancakes when they gave me the last of them. Hard as a rock they were, and the server was not very friendly, as if I was bothering them when I asked if there were more out back somewhere and they said NO! Again, the rest of the staff was friendly, just not the server. How do you run out of a food with an HOUR left...

A la carte military cafeteria with a clean atmosphere. I was able to get breakfast for under a dollar and satisfied my hunger. And it wasn't bad! The phrase "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply here -- they go above and beyond! I didn't understand that I had to leave my tray at the table because the staff would clean up after me.
