Boarding House Bistro — Restaurant in O'Fallon

I would love to give a great review but can’t. I spent over $150 on a platter to go. it was beautiful! however, when carrying it from my trunk to my back door, the middle of the cardboard tray collapsed and the majority of the beautiful tray fell onto the ground. There was not a support on the bottom of tray nor a warning from the staff to ensure that I put something underneath it to avoid that issue. I called to tell them that they at least needed to warn clients to ensure there was something underneath the tray but the individual acted like I was an idiot for not realizing that. I asked for a discount on a future order for the loss and she “took a message”. It’s been almost a full work week and I haven’t heard anything. So dissatisfied and disappointed in this local business that I wanted to support. Hopefully this review helps...

Update: I’ve been many times with friends and family. Though the majority of my visits were filled with great times, delicious cocktails and wine, and the finest of foods to pair, the last visit on March 16th was anything but that. The staff was not very attentive, almost to the point of avoiding us. They rounded the corner and were busy whispering away. The food was lacking flavor and was highly disappointing. I hope it’s not like this again though after speaking to other friends they’ve had a similar experience with the same staff.

1st visit: Great time with friend or for a date or a night alone! The staff is always nice and helpful on suggestions. The drinks are yummy and strong and they have a great variety of food and charcuterie. Last time I got the paper plane drink and it was delicious! Good one to sip,...

The best charcuterie ever!! Ordered the 4x4. Four cheese/four meats. $1 extra for sour cherry jam and $1 extra for grilled bread. Our platter only came with crackers without an option to substitute. Condiments were also not included on our board. I always need honey or jam to cut the saltiness. The cheese was fresh and flavorful with a very good variety. The flavored goat cheeses are my #1 recommendation. I think the one we chose was honey walnut? The place is small with 4 high-top tables just inside the entrance and a 4 seat bar area that seemed cramped even before our food came. They served cucumber flavored water which was a nice touch. Im planning on driving over from St Charles again shortly with my family just for their amazing cheese! Can not find this experience...
