If I could give this establishment 0 stars for this experience, I would. I would even go as far as to give it negative stars. First of all, our group had a reservation for a private room. We did not have a server throughout the entire evening. The establishment called the person that made the reservation to confirm we were coming because they had been having cancellations and no shows. We confirmed. We were to having dinner and drinks prior to bowling. All of which was apart of the reservation.
While in our private room, there were other private parties going on and other patrons throughout the establishment. We continued to wait for the server as we also wanted to turn on the TV and watch the basketball game. The manager finally came as someone in our party went to the bar to ask for our server to bring the remote. She stated she was still trying to figure out who our server was. She attempted to turn on the TV but the cable did not work in the room. She leaves the room. Still no server.
We attempt to adjust the room temperature. The thermostat did not go past 67 degrees which would not be bad if it had not been 27 degrees outside. Needless to say we were shivering. Again no server.
A server that was services two private rooms on the other side of the floor stepped in to briefly assist us. He took a few drink and food orders but advised us he had two other parties to attend to. He was attempting to help. The rest of us had to make trips to the bar to place orders. Again no server.
Food service starts but almost everything that came to our room was not something we ordered. After some time, we just accepted what was brought out because we lost faith in getting anything we originally ordered. At this time, the room is still cold and STILL NO SERVER.
I am beyond annoyed at this point as two people from our party left because they were hungry. Understandably! I was tempted to buy food from a nearby establishment and bring it in. However, if I would have left, I definitely was not coming back. I wanted to enjoy the time with our group and meet as we intended. ROOM STILL COLD. STILL NO SERVER.
Now it is our bowling time and no one comes to the room to advise us of the next steps. Someone from our party goes to the bowling alley advising them of our reservation. He was then told bowling was not open. We were later told there were conflicting reservations.
So to recap the experience, instead of a restaurant, it was a work-a-rant. I deserve a check for the three hours of work I performed going in and out of a private room to the bar to place food and drink orders and serve myself. Bowling would have probably been a good way to salvage the evening. But that was a bust. The room was COLD and STILL NO SERVER.
By the way...we were a party of about 20.
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE ENTIRE...
Read moreI have been a member of the Gold's in O'Fallon, IL for over 5 years and I went to the gym a minimum of 4 days/week, more often than not I am at the gym 7 days a week. This particular location has it's good and bad points.
Good: (1)Service. Desk attendants are always nice and helpful, though I've never made any crazy requests. (2) Equipment Selection (variety and quantity) (3) Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna (4) Friendly Members (5) Free Classes for adults (Zumba, GGX) (6) Cardio Cinema. My wife loves it, but I was never a fan. (7) Personal Training offered (additional cost). I have never used one of their trainers but I have been around them a lot; they all seem knowledgeable, polite, focused, and helpful.
Bad: (1) Cleanliness. With the number of people using the facility it is expected that the place will be a bit dirty, but there are areas you know they haven't touched in months (cough sauna cough) and it gets pretty disgusting.
(2) Personal Training. I put this under the 'bad" as well because recently it seems as though the facility is allowing the trainers and their trainees to take over entire areas of the gym for their workouts. This is great if you are paying for the training services, but as an average gym member it is maddening to see them just take over areas like that. It's not right in my opinion.
(3) Crowds. At times the gym can be nearly impossible to use because of the large number of people. I am often lucky enough to be able to workout mid-day when it's not so crowded. I refuse to go between 4pm and 7pm, there's no point in even trying.
(4) Treadmills, Elipticals. Now you could easily put this under the 'good' category, depending on your needs, but as soon as you walk in all you see is a sea of treadmills and elipticals. Don't get me wrong, I run on the treadmill on a regular basis, but this place has probably 100 between the open area and the Cardio Cinema.
(5) Functional/Free Weight Training area(s). This really ties into the Treadmill/Eliptical subject because they seem to have tried to stuff all the free weights (especially squat racks) into as small of an area as possible to make room for the field of treadmills.
(6) Soul and Community. This may sound crazy but this place has no 'soul', no sense of community or camaraderie. I realize it's not a living being, and maybe it's just me, but I never really feel comfortable there. Something is a little off.
In the end, I would recommend this location, especially to those looking for a casual gym experience. There is a place for everyone here from the 'gym rat' to people who just want to walk on a treadmill and take a swim. There is nothing more to this place than what you see on the surface though: you can use their dirty, banged up equipment (they have plenty of it) as long as you...
Read moreDid not meet any of our expectations at all.. There were separate tickets besides some couples that were with our party- so our waitress was having to go back and forth from our table all the way up to the kiosk with our debit cards even though she had a tablet ? Not sure why this was a thing but this caused me to get my food 45 minutes before the last person that ordered got theirs. So that being said, the food was quick!! I had no choice but to eat my food in front of the rest of our party before it got cold- but it was cold when i received it… The nachos were average at best- i am almost positive the chicken was canned, not good at all with barely any queso on them. My wings were gristle and not a big fan of the sauce at all.. the french fries were good though and the ranch lol. It took us at least 30 minutes to receive each drink we ordered- including our waters. Once again I blame this on the running back and forth from our table to the kiosk- I am not blaming our waitress exactly, because i’m not sure if this is what they are trained/have to do or not but it was extremely time consuming and stressful for not only our waitress but the party as well. Every time we would ask to make sure our alcoholic drinks were placed our waitress would say the bar was “slammed” and they were at “max capacity today.”’ My friends and I are NOT karen’s by any means but we could see the bar from our table and there were maybe a few people sitting there each time.. We also would order drinks and the waitress would say they were “out of that” but there is a liquor store connected to the venue…? Which it would make sense if they were out of the mixers like orange juice but they all pretty much consist of the same thing- tequila or Sky vodka with some time of juice, red bull, or soda. It was just very strange.. We also got our game cards for 1 hour worth of playing time and the cards would not swipe half of the time so our time was up after just a few arcade games/bowling. Overall, this place was just not what any of us expected. It was extremely confusing with the tabs as well- we were told we had to chase down our waitress after we finished our meal to close our tab because we could not do it at the bar? But we were not told this before. So my friends and I ended up paying 3+ times for different things- our dining experience, gaming, and then each time we went to the bar. It just seemed like it was this place first week of opening or something honestly.. just very...
