I just went there today and here are my impressions.
I thought the atmosphere to be ok. Wasn't bad but wasn't great either. I ordered the gyoza appetiser and they were pretty good and I recommend them I ordered a bento box. Comes with a nice variety of things in addition to the main entree. (Pieces off california roll, a shrimp and a imitation crab sushi piece, salad tempura soup and of course rice). The food was pretty good. Much like the atmosphere, was ok. The menu was a bit better than some of the other places around. It had a good variety of hot food items (teriyaki, yaki soba, korean spicy pork, and a few other items. Many of the other sushi restaurants neglect hot items so it was nice to have a choice.
Price is where I dinged them. The prices seemed a bit high for what you get. They also charged for siracha. Was only 25 cents but still. In most other places the restaurant goes ahead and provides it for free.
The service was fine. Our waitress didn't come around to often so I had to flag down other waitresses. Wasn't too ha d because the place is small, so waitresses were constantly near. Not the greatest situation but the waitresses didn't seem to mind ing me out.
Would I go there again? I wouldn't suggest going there to my friends but if they wanted to go I wouldn't mind...
Read moreNow, I have never given a place fewer than 3 stars, but if I could give Sake 0 I would. The reasons being: We were served cold, powdered miso soup. It took over 45 minutes for our food to get to our table. There were only 4 other tables full. It was NOT busy. I ordered chicken yakisoba. It tasted NOTHING like yakisoba. They used bland ramen noodles, frozen vegetables, and dry chicken. I'm not a picky eater, but the chicken tasted like it had been cooked and then reheated. It was so dry and tasteless! And to top it off, there was no sauce. Not a drop of yakisoba sauce to be found. It was super bland. I could almost forgive them that--I doubt yakisoba is their specialty. But my husband ordered a bento box and it was awful. He ordered chicken teriyaki. Again, the chicken was DRY. And the teriyaki didn't taste right. It didn't taste at all like Japanese teriyaki, if thay makes sense. The rice was undercooked in his bento. And finally, the sushi (4 makimono rolls and 2 sashimi in his bento) was awful. The fish tasted like it had gone bad.
We were completely dissatisfied. We paid, left, and ate elsewhere. Never going back there again. The price was ridiculous for the horrible food. The service was good. The only wrongs we felt came from the kitchen, but they were so bad that I can't give this place more...
Read morePicked up takeout shortly after the restaurant opened. We had a very mixed experience with the food.
Overall: 4/5. We will be coming back, but only for the sushi. My recommendation to anyone looking to eat here would be to only get sushi.
Sushi: 5/5! Really good. We had a sunset roll and an eel roll, and both were well made and tasted great. No complaints.
Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box: 3/5. The rice was quite dry and the salmon was extremely cooked. I was expecting perhaps a single piece of salmon glazed with sauce, or large chunks. Instead they were small, likely over-fried pieces that would have been amazing if served raw instead of overcooked. The sauce itself was great, however.
Additional note that really makes the bento box a 2.5/5: when ordering takeout, you do not get the miso soup. That is only for dine-in, however you pay the same price. This is odd to me, as I've never been to a place that won't give you takeout miso soup. There is a note on their online menu, but it is easily missed.
Teriyaki Chicken and Rice: same issue that the bento box had. Very dry rice, extremely overcooked tiny pieces of chicken, but a tasty sauce.
Steamed Shrimp Shumai: 5/5! Tasted great, though a bit small. You...
