I can NOT believe the experience I had with an individual identifying himself as the manager of the Ofallon IL location. I called in after I left the drive-thru, so that I could comment about my experience. The manager got rude, and repeated my concern to me. I told the manager that I was going to call the 800 number and make a suggestion also. The manager then said " let me get this straight, you're going to call the 800 number to report", and he stated what I had said my concerns were. Next I ended the call telling him that my last few experiences had been bad at his location, and I ended the call. The manager CALLED ME BACK! I was in disbelief that he called me back with the intent to entrap me. The manager said " you hung up before I could tell you to have a nice day", sounding very wicked. I asked the manager why would he call me back. I told him it seemed to be a form of harassment. The manager repeated the same thing, and I asked him for the number to corporate he refused, and hung up.. Next I called him back and asked him for his name, and he said if you call here again I will make a report of harassment because you're threatening my job. I'm not sure how I threatened his job, I never did that. The manager is the one who called me back to escalate the situation and then threatened to make a false police report against me, when he called me back. I have NEVER in my life experienced a situation like this..that manager needs to be investigated because what he did was pure wrong. I have been to multiple Steak -n- Shakes, this one has a lot of opportunity for improvement.
The drive through gets our order wrong 1/3 off the time (feels more like 75% off the time, though); we visit once a week to every other week. Typically missing a topping or condiment, cold fries or way overcooked fries. Other times they overcook the hotdogs to rubbery and charred. When they get the order correct the food is good. There are normally long waits in the drive through (typical of 10-20 minutes, more at peak dinner times 5pm-8pm) where they make you pull forward past the pay/delivery window, then you are stuck with the wrong order when the person walks up to your car dropping off your bag of food quickly returning back in to the building and the only way to correct it is to wait in the long line again for the drive through or get out of your car to go in and have them correct the order. This is very difficult if you are a single parent with young kids that you have to tote in and out of the car, or if you have mobility challenges. It happens so often that it is rarely worth going there anymore and dealing with their inconsistency.
As for dining in, the food is always served fresh and quality. The service can be slow depending on the server and how busy it is. There are often lengthy waits for shakes and average 20 minute waits for food to be served with moderate (no wait line) amount of people in...

First a gentlemen needed help with the kiosk, no one would pay any attention to him, when he finally got someone’s attention I believe it was a manager she said no one can help him because they were too busy. I offered to help but he only had cash and that one was not working. Two people came in from the drive through to say they had been sitting for over 20 minutes with no food. They finally got theirs. Another gentleman and his wife came in the door, manager or whoever was working yelled from the counter that they were not taking any dining room orders, there was literally eight people in the place. He couldn’t hear what she was saying so she screams across the restaurant that the DINING ROOM IS CLOSED, he was taken aback and said okay I’ll just go somewhere else and she yells I DONT CARE. This is a level of rude and disrespect that I have never witnessed. Some others came in the door and she yells, wait a minute and puts her hand up, and asked the crew if they could handle these four people in the dining room, they said yes. The rest of the crew were great and helpful, I had to go back to the counter twice for things they forgot and was helped quickly and with respect, although not by her.
