Before I get started on this review, I'd like to mention that I will change this review on my next go-around if I manage to make my way there next time if I feel it is warranted. Overall, my experience was below average, and I feel that's something that hopefully can be ramified in the future. I'll explain my observations (both positives and negatives):
POSITIVES The establishment is nice, clean, and well lit. They've definitely invested money into the place and it certainly shows. The custom airbrushing and wall designs were very nice touches. There's lots of employees working there, and the line moved quickly. They have ski products, which is a great thing. Local business supporting local business. The food quality seems to be very good; particularly with the meat. Fries were very good. The other sides seemed average, or subpar (particularly the beans; I really didn't care for them at all). There's an outdoor seating area, and the positioning/location for it is very enjoyable. Variety of table sizing and seating arrangements make it easy to cater to multiple group sizes.
NEGATIVES It's expensive for a self-serve type of place. If I'm seating myself, ordering in a line, and cleaning up after myself - the prices should reflect that. I firmly believe you get what you pay for in anything (especially food). That being said - the price here is high all things considered. I was immediately placed on hold for thirteen minutes and subsequently hung up on as well. The person who answered the phone clearly had no intentions of talking to me, and their demeanor over the phone made it fairly obvious. I am a very patient individual and I understand the food business is stressful.. that being said - that's completely unacceptable, especially given the fact that Sugarfire was at half capacity when we arrived. All I called for was checking if seating was available and/or if there was an expecting wait for seating. Navigating through the building still feels crammed, even with all the seating space that they have. Noise levels weren't absurd, but there was a faint echoing. To be fair, there is a lot of activity with lots of people coming and leaving.
Overall verdict: 2/5. A painful review to leave, but those are my sentiments. The two other individuals I've shown up with will not be returning here based on the overall experience. I will stick with Smokey Bones or The Beast as my...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing customer care experience today, that I tried in vain to resolve, that resulted in the loss of our loyalty to the O’fallon Il. Sugarfire. We placed our Togo order inside at the restaurant, which was two pounds of BBQ wings, 1 pound of dry rub wings, 1 Augratin potato and 1 baked beans. I glanced at the receipt without my glasses and noticed that they had charged us for 2 Augration potatoes. I said rather than refund us the extra cost, just give us a slaw, which they did. So, when we got home, we unpacked our order, I noticed that we only had 1 pound of barbecue wings, I got my glasses and I realized they had just charged us for 1 pound of barbecue wings, even though we specifically requested 2 pounds of BBQ wings. I even said to our order taker, “just to be clear it’s a total of 3 pounds of wings,” to which he replied, “yes sir”. When I originally looked at the receipt in the store, I didn’t figure that they would’ve screwed up TWICE on the same receipt. So I called the store and talked to a manager, who would not give me her name, even though I was very nice while stating my case. I said to make it up to me since I have to drive all the way back from the West End of Belleville, that they should comp me for that 1 pound of barbecue wings, since they messed up the order to begin with. She said that she couldn’t do that, that “they have a process to do first.” I said, “ It’s only wings, it shouldn’t be this difficult.” She had the nerve to call me combative. She didn’t even apologize, I guess that’s not allowed in the “process.” We even tipped $7.75, for a carryout order, it’s not as if we are cheap and trying to get free wings. Sugarfire needs to revamp their “process”, it resulted in the loss of 2 loyal customers, especially since Salt and Smoke was just recently named the BEST Wings in the state of Missouri by Lovefood.com. Please see the attached screenshot from 1 day ago, when FOX2now.com did an article on it. I have filled out 113 Google reviews of businesses, this Sugarfire location has the dubious distinction of being the first review that I have posted that is not five stars all the way across, in every category. We will gladly drive across the river to enjoy the best wings in the state of Missouri, which will taste even better after this very disappointing Sugarfire Customer...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences in a restaurant I've had! Me and my significant other wanted to try this place out for the first time and we were interested in trying a variety of foods to eat and then take home later so we ordered a lot. We walked up to the guy who was serving and when we ordered the "Meat Daddy" which comes with 4 bone ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage link, 4 oz. each brisket, pulled pork, and turkey + 2 sides and a fountain drink, he looked at me and said "are you sure you want to order that? Is that all just for you?" He had no smile on his face and look more annoyed than anything! WE HAD TO LITERALLY DESCRIBE TO HIM WHY WE ORDERED OUR FOOD!
We also ordered a full rack rack of ribs and the hushpuppy appetizer with the jalapeno jelly to try. We received our meal before our appetizer. The ribs that I ordered were bland and cold from already being cooked and sitting out. We went up to the front where they have it set up to where you have to grab your own silverware. The different sauces they had were intriguing to try but none of the bottles were labeled and they all tasted disgusting! The whole setup from ordering, receiving our food, and sitting down was like being in a school cafeteria where the lunch lady hands you your tray and you go sit down. The cherry on top there was a couple older customers behind us in line while we waited for our food and harassed us for ordering mac'n'cheese as a side dish. Making comments such as "Are you a kid?". I know the restaurant can't personally help how there customers act but it added to the horrible experience there.
OVERALL: The food was cold, horrible atmosphere, and on top of everything else the food MADE US SICK about 30 mins after we left. Our bill was $100 and it was not worth it. WORST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO! Do yourself a favor and steer clear...
