Another poster mentioned "real" Korean cuisine. I have to give that a resounding "two thumbs up"! Most "stripped down" Korean restaurants trend toward just offering what they think most Americans will cater to... bulgogi, kimchi (maybe), fried rice, maybe kalbi, etc. Where else can you get oxtail soup, Soondubu, Youkaejang, and Tteokkboki in the Metro East? And I've been to most of the Korean restaurants in St. Louis and the only one in the same league would be Joo Joo at Olive and Fee Fee.
This place is a hidden gem. Don't expect fast food prices or anything similar to the stripped down versions of a Korean restaurant, but it's still equivalent to any other non-fast food sit down restaurant in the area. A previous poster mentioned it being $20 for the equivalent $10+ at My Bowl. I think You's bulgogi was $14.95 last time I got it for lunch (and pricing does vary between lunch specials and dinner). My Bowl has an excessive amount of salt and sugar in the bulgolgi (at least for my taste). My Bowl does get a lot of support from the base (I the owner/s are former military), which is great. But in all fairness as far as comparisons go and even though they both offer Korean food it's hard to make a direct comparison between the two. It's like saying McDonald's burgers are comparable to Mac's Local Eats burgers just because it's the same type of food - you get what I'm trying to say? And You offers banchan for their (at least dinner) dishes, which is a plus.
You tends to rotate specials depending on the day/week. Maybe it has to do with what's fresh at the time - I'm not sure. I've had chicken and beef bulgogi there. Been there 4 times now and the food and service have been fantastic. And the best part is that it's not drenched with MSG or salt! Season to your own taste which is great if you have dietary restrictions.
Did I mention they also have sushi? I think I've eaten at every sushi place on the east side - Belleville, Fairview, Edwardsville, etc. Hands down You has served up the freshest sushi....every single time. Their offerings may not be as varied as, say Wasabi, but what they do have is perfect and doesn't leave me looking for more.
The place is huge - formerly the Japanese Restaurant that did the whole hibachi thing and Bobsang, which was okay but short-lived. It could probably be in a building half the size...even though Scott Air Force Base is close, every time I've been there it's been only partially full.
If you are craving Korean (and sushi for that matter), this is the...
Read moreWOW...JUST WOW!! Best sushi I've had in my life!!! If I could give it 10 stars I would!! Service was top notch and food was impeccable 👌
I came upon this place by looking for a place to eat, and reading reviews on Google. This place did not disappoint!!
They have such a large sushi menu, with so many options. We got 3 different rolls. We decided to go for different rolls that you normally can't get anywhere else.
We got the Maui Roll, Yummy Roll, and Ichiban Roll...they were all so good!! I normally am not a fan of deep fried rolls, but these were so good!! We both said the Maui roll was our favorite, which is weird, because I dont like mango, and that mango on there made my tastebuds pop, and burst with flsame. Some of the rolls said they were spicy. I normally can not do spicy, but they were not too spicy for me at all. I honestly could not taste the spice at all. However, the rolls were full of flavor, extremely fresh, did not fall apart, and like I said...the BEST sushi I've ever had in my entire life.
We also got some fried rice, and it was so good! Was not dried out like most fried rice. It was full of flavor. They also brought out a sauce to put on your fried rice...it was a little too spicy for me though, so I didn't do that sauce.
The owner also brought us out some spicy crab meat to try...it was delicious. Not too spicy at all. Everything we had was so good. We will definitely be coming back, and I will also be referring all of my friends to this gem! I can't believe I haven't heard of this place before now! Now that I've been here...I will be here alot more often!
10-22-21: Went back again today, and it was just as good! This time got 2 sushi rolls, the Maui Roll and the Firecracker Roll (with no spicy sauce on the Firecracker roll) both were very good. Also got the lunch special of the Bulgoki. OMG...That was Phenomenal!!! It was sliced meat, and kind of sweet. Will be going back and getting a dinner portion of that! They also brought us some cucumber and some cabbage kimchi to try...the cucumber wasn't too bad. The cabbage was way too spicy for me! But I'm not a fan of spicy food. But everyone that lives spicy seemed to go crazy over it.

Read moreOver priced mediocre food, purchased shrimp fried rice and beef bulgogi both $12.00 for the lunch portion or should I say snack portion. The fried rice probably had 3-4 whole shrimp which were cut into tiny pieces, I guess to make it appear like you were getting more. The bulgogi was literally about a cup full. The only sides they offered were cucumber and kimchi when we asked for more the waitress got upset and was very rude stating that was all you get with the lunch portion and no other Korean restaurants gave you more. She then went on to ask me to name the Korean restaurants I went to in St. Louis because she goes to church with the owners and know what they serve in their restaurants. I said, First off they give you at least 4 or more different sides so there is no need to ask for more, but anytime I did they obliged and wasn’t rude. It’s very unfortunate as this is one of the two Korean restaurants I know of on this side of the river but I’d rather drive to St. Louis than patronize this establishment or deal with a...
