It was our first time visiting, we got lunch combos. The food was good and the server was friendly enough, but there were multiple things that left us with more to be desired. We had our baby with us and requested a high chair, we were crammed into a very small booth with our car seat and backpack and put our son at the end of the table. I’ve always been told in the service industry to never seat parents at a booth with the baby at the end, as it a tripping hazard and a dangerous for babies themselves to have food passed over their heads. Even though it was empty in there, I didnt want to ask to be moved and be a pain. This may seem small but it set the tone for our whole meal.
I thought it was odd that we weren’t offered or given chopsticks or soy sauce with our sushi. We ended up eating it with our hands, which somehow felt less weird than eating it with a fork I suppose.
I ordered an egg roll with my lunch and received a spring roll instead, which the man who brought it out was super nice and fixed that immediately which I felt guilty about but appreciate him doing so.
I ordered the honey walnut shrimp, expecting the typical creamy white sauce I am used to, but what I received was closer to sweet and sour shrimp with walnuts. It was drenched in an orange sauce and soggy.
Our waitress didn’t even ask how everything was or if we needed anything else before quickly dropping our check off and seemed annoyed that I didn’t tell her before hand that we had a birthday promo code- which I would have, had she stopped to talk to us at all during our meal. With the discount, plus tip, our lunch was $70 for 2 lunch combos and a sushi roll. I’m just glad we went for lunch, I would’ve been even more disappointed if I’d paid the outrageous dinner prices, which my jaw dropped when I saw those. We have a takeout place down the street that I think we will stick to from now on. We’ve always wanted to try this place but left feeling disappointed. With how upscale they market themselves and how expensive it was, I suppose we just expected a...
Read moreWent for the first time expecting knock- my- socks off food and apps from all the great reviews. What I got was- just another Chinese restaurant with extremely overpriced apps and single-flavor food. The service was great and the staff is attentive. The entrée portions are large so you get a lot of food (def enough to share) and the steamed pork buns are probably the best thing on the ENTIRE menu. But that's about where the positives end. $10 for 4 pieces of dim sum, all of which tasted the same no matter which one you ordered (if you are doing the math that's $2.50 a piece). Last time I checked, "soup dumplings" were supposed to have mostly liquid inside, not just the filling. The Lo Main just tasted...brown. Flat and lacking any seasoning or flair. The two kids that were with us (and LOVE lo main) barely ate it because they didn't like it and I can understand why. Same with the fried rice- only one who likes it was a baby. The sushi was meh. The Boston roll tasted like nothing and the sauce on the tuna roll overpowered any flavor there could have been. TBH- I get better sushi at Market District for about the same price. I get we are still in a pandemic but quality shouldn't suffer especially when you have only a few people dining in the entire place. I really wanted to like the place bc the reviews seemed so positive and I...
Read moreWe placed an order for takeout this evening, specifying the items come from the gluten free menu. When we returned home, we noticed what appeared to be breading and sesame seeds in the ruby chicken (looked like something had fallen into the chicken, not that they breaded the chicken). We called to let them know that the meal appeared to have been cross contaminated. The manager got on the phone and insisted that the recipe was gluten free. We explained that we understood that, however it looked like it had been possibly cross contaminated somehow (possibly stirred with a wrong spoon and some breading from another dish got into the food, etc). He insisted that the recipe contained no gluten and I should eat it and I would not get sick. When my husband tried to explain (again) that it wasn't the recipe but that it appeared cross contaminated, the manager very rudely told my husband "don't call back. I'll give you a refund". Really? Don't call back? We've been regular, good customers for years. The one time we dare question a possible mistake, we're told to not call back? We understand mistakes happen. We would have been fine if they just offered to give us credit for another meal and leave it at that. But to be banned from the restaurant? Ridiculous. Regardless of the manager's wishes, we won't be going back after that kind...
