Tepache Mexican Kitchen is a treasure in Pittsburgh! I have been to the one in Fox Chapel three times now, and each visit has been a delight.
The food is absolutely delicious! I am a nanny, and I brought my two nanny kids there one evening when I was working late. They loved the tacos so much that I had to order a second batch! These kids are 7 and 5 years old, and very picky eaters, so you know those were some exceptionally good tacos! 🌮
My favorite dish (from my three visits—so far) is the Mole Negro Enchiladas: chicken and potato enchiladas in Mole sauce. It’s incredible! So delicious. I can’t wait to go back and order it again.
*I couldn’t choose between the chicken and the potato enchiladas, so I asked my waiter if I could have two of each. He said yes, but he’d have to charge me the price for the chicken. Dije que no había problema porque realmente quería probar ambos. I told him no problem because I really wanted to try them both.
And it was totally worth it because it was truly ONE OF THE BEST MEALS of my life!!! 😋
On my next visit, I plan on asking if they will sell me a container of their Mole sauce to take home—because it’s that good!
The staff is wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The waiters/waitresses are happy to answer any questions you may have about the menu.
I had a fundraiser there on June 19, 2025, and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.
They also have very talented bartenders, who make a variety of delicious specialty drinks.
The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with Mexican art on the walls, dried flowers hanging from the ceiling, and some gorgeous murals on the walls. The art and decor are fabulous and create a warm and welcoming environment.
If you love Mexican food as much as I do, then you will definitely want to visit Tepache Mexican Kitchen. You will be rewarded with delicious food and drinks, excellent customer service, beautiful ambiance, and free parking.
I highly recommend Tepache Mexican Kitchen. Your stomach will thank you for the delicious food. Your eyes will thank you for the gorgeous art. And your heart will thank you for the warm and welcoming...
Read morejust left there and it's a total scam. the chips were beyond hard to the point of being nearly inedible, the salsa had no flavor and was more water than anything. my wife's meal had canned sauce and everything was very dried out with no flavor. we had to ask twice for salt and pepper. my meal had microwaved tortilla's, you know where the edges are rock hard and the center is chewy and gummy and sticks to your teeth. rice and beans no flavor, salt didn't even help. the chicken was paper thin and so hard the dull knife I was given couldn't cut through it. the chorizo was a pasty mush. their house mixed "sangria" is fruit juice with no alcohol in it. not a hint detected and at FOURTEEN DOLLARS a glass I should at least taste some alcohol. wine is to be half off a glass BUT they don't tell you it doesn't include sangria when I questioned my bill. 3 glasses were 42 dollars, which was more than our meals combined. I questioned it and the waiter said it doesn't include sangria. I said sangria is wine. he says I'm getting the manager, comes back and says he's "busy", see right here it says wine, sangria isn't wine. I said if I go to the liquor store sangria is in the wine section. he laughs in my face, says oh well, and walks away. normally I would have fought it more but I let it be because it was going to get no where, paid my 80 dollar bill (2 entree's and 3 sangria's) and plan to never return again. so beware. I've lived in Texas for 10 years, I'm Hispanic, I know what this food should taste like. I should have spoken in Spanish and I might have gotten real food, or at least the correct order. I had asked for no lettuce because I am allergic to it, btw I asked in Spanish to be sure he understood me, and got lettuce on my meal. if you like canned microwaved bland meal and drinks with no alcohol in it this is your place. as you can see I don't give reviews, but this deserved one for how terrible it was, I've seriously had better food at taco bell and Mexican take out joints...
Read moreOk so the manager was wonderful. But the service was awful. First of all server could barely speak English —‘and there was a mixup with the soup - we misunderstood her or she misunderstood us but the wrong soup was brought. My husband said he could not eat this he wanted the tortilla chicken soup for 13.00. The server said too bad you ordered it and you must pay for it. We asked for manager and we’re going to leave but manager said she would take care of it. So correct soup was brought ( which is huge and takes awhile to eat ) but our entree was brought within 2-3 minutes after soup!!! Could not enjoy it so got it to go. Finally we got our 19.00 top shelf margarita - that was anything but top shelf - it had salt on it, which we ordered without- and it took 30 minutes to get. We also told the manager that we didn’t want it. But too bad we got it anyways!!
My husband ordered hot sauce and they charged us 3.00 for it. Nobody told us there was a charge for it ( plus it was terrible). We also were up charged for two additional tortillas….. like cmon don’t nickel and dime me!!
The people beside us with the same server also got the wrong order and had to ask for a manager. They also told me a friend of theirs came for dinner last night and ordered a Virgin drink- she realized when she was done there was alcohol in it!!! Cmon I am so so very frustrated that I’m paid 79.00 for a meal that didn’t satisfy me and honestly made me more than a little frustrated and angry. That is not how you are suppose to feel leaving a restaurant. And I’m sad that this is the last time for me and also for the people beside us and I’m assuming last time for...
