Absolutely the best breakfast in the tri-cites. The sausage and biscuits are to die for. Unreasonably tall and buttery biscuits, with a darkened sausage gravy. They let the roux develop a darker color before adding in the cream or milk and it slowly develops a mouth watering richness that a simple white gravy could never match. I opted for the Country Fried Steak which stayed crispy, juicy and so fork tender that Cracker Barrel, Shoney's, Bob Evans and Waffle House could never come close to being in the same League as this true home cooking restaurant. This is truly Grandma's cooking at its best. The French toast was spot on (sometimes keeping it simple is best). The eggs were cooked to perfection with not even a hint of rubbery edges to be found. I took my Country Ham and dipped it in the ooyey gooey yolks wich cut some of the saltiness. The ham was tender and not overly salty like most. The pancakes were light and airy like a food cloud of deliciousness. I could have eaten the pancakes without any syrup. So much flavor in every bite. I also had the fried apples, which were soft and just melted in your mouth, leaving just a hint of cinnamon behind. I am definitely going to be a regular at this local hole in the wall that is less than 2 miles from my house. The only negative thing I can say about this joint is why haven't I been here sooner? I have totally been missing out. And if you don't make an effort to get on over to Blue Gills, you will surely be missing out as well. So the next time you decide to get out for some home-cooked fixings, head on over to Blue Gills in Johnson City. I promise you won't be disappointed. Just tell them Famous Amos sent ya. I am sure they will remember me, especially since I plan on becoming a local regular. It will be hard for me to go anywhere else from now on. Now my mouth is watering again. They are open 7 days a week from 7 A.M until 2 P.M. I think I am going to try their lunch tomorrow. I hear they have some amazing Chicken...
Read moreSeat yourself, be prepared to freeze while you eat. Wait staff was young and attentive, would like to see them in a uniform of sorts not shorts and yoga pants. My dad voted a 4 for tastiness and flavor, coffee was hot fresh, he would go back and says way better then the chain CB down the road. Hubby says he likes it and scored it a four. My mom rates is as a 4. Now let’s get down to business, I thought the brown gravy was slightly pasty and the pancakes were missing something. The hash-browns were cooked with perfection and for sure if I go back I’ll just ask for them to make me a potato bowl. I was however surprised as we walked out to peep inside the fridge and the amount of condiment bottle blew me away. That’s one thing that scares me personally how does one keep track of when they opened it if there were no labels with dates. The mamaw in back with a kitchen towel around her neck made me feel right at home, however each person keeps house differently, keep that in mind before you judge. You will need to ask for a knife they don’t give those out, must have something to do with...

Waited nearly 45 minutes for our food, we ordered a hamburger and hamburger steak. I could understand if they were making it fresh but they were not, they used pre-made hamburger patties that appeared and tasted like frozen ones, there is no reason for it to take 45 minutes to get food there. Our waiter acted as if it was a problem to serve us, not friendly at all. We had sweet tea to drink and it was SOUR, we saw our waiter putting the left over tea in a jar since they were closing when we left, I hope that they aren't recycling the tea for use tomorrow since it had already gone bad from sitting there all day. We will never go back. It...
