We have passed this restaurant for years on the way to visit our kids and have always wanted to stop by. But we could never catch them when they were opened. The opportunity finally presented itself and we were able to stop by around noon. The place was packed which told me it had to be good! And it was. Our options were catfish, hamburger steak in gravy, chicken tenders, mac & cheese, dried lima beans, fries, etc. I'm not a seafood person but the hushpuppies were the best I've ever had. I could have made a meal off of them. The hamburger steak and chicken tenders were very good. But stars were the mac & cheese and dried lima beans. The mac & cheese was absolutely delicious. I hadn't had dried lima beans in years and these were excellent. The desserts were fabulous as well. If you want the peach cobbler, better grab it first. It was out when we were there. But the pecan cobbler was very good as was the German chocolate cake. It's a good thing I don't live close by because I'd be gaining so much weight. We thought the $15 price was worth it since there was so much food and all you can eat. We would definitely go there again. If you follow them on Facebook they do video's every day showing the menu. I want to go on a Wednesday the next time because they have all my favorites that day! I can't wait to stop by again. The staff were super friendly and Mama Ree was there working the cash register and...
Read moreWe like to stop off on routes away from the interstates. We often find those great independent places to eat. We passed this place and it had a lot of cars in the parking lot. So we turned around and pulled up. It was not till we were getting the food did we realize it was $13 per person which was high compared to other places and for this type of food. The main thing on this day was fried chicken fingers and fried chicken. The fingers were ok but the fried chicken was hard and looked like it had been sitting out for a while. The green beans were very good till we went back for more. I guess whomever fixed the second batch did not flavor them because it was obvious they were can. In fact all the vegs were from a can. This place is the best place in town...because it is the only place in town (actually on the side of the road). Some of the food was weird...like can potatoes in some kind of cheese sauce. If you drive a few more miles you will come upon some fast food places. These are...
Read moreMama Ree's serves a breakfast like Mom and Grandma used to cook. Mama Ree is a real person and she is at her restaurant to great you. The restaurant has operated over 30 years. Most of the waitresses have been there for years and they treat you like you are company. (My family is partial to Rachel but they are all friendly and give great service.) They offer most traditional breakfast foods. Eggs cooked to order; choices of bacon, country ham, sausage; white bread or whole wheat toast or biscuits; omelets; waffles or pancakes; grits; breakfast fries; are some of the offerings. The fresh blueberry pancakes are the best I have ever tasted. They open daily around 6am and serve breakfast until about 10:30am. We eat there almost every Saturday. Many eat there during the week before work. They have a buffet at lunch with several meats, vegetables, fruits, salad, and desserts. Dinner is served Friday and Saturday evenings. This is a family owned restaurant that has stood the...
