Las Islas Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Oakland City

Although I wasn’t extremely impressed with the quality of what I ordered. I do take in consideration the business had been busy & still had many people dining in. This isn’t the first time I ate here so I do know they have some excellent menu items. This visit for takeout wasn’t impressive & im hopeful this is not the norm. There also has been a price increase that wasn’t stated for dinner. Although the lunch & dinner prices are different, the amount of food is still the same & for the same meal that I previously paid $9 is now $19. The service was excellent, I was greeted immediately upon entrance & had a friendly conversation with a couple servers while waiting on my food. Over all it’s a great place just be aware of prices & how much service they have done...

The only problem I ran into here is parking. But other than that... The chips were fresh, salsa wasn't watery like most places, the sweet tea was perfect, my waitress always had my drink full, nice environment, and the food was delicious!. If you're from Oakland city, IN then you'll most likely run Into someone you know which is nice. Clean tables, bathroom, and spotless utensils Food is really cheap and tastes amazing. The people were well spoken and made sure my visit was very pleasant. Don't mind these people complaining about stupid tacos. Who goes to a Mexican restaurant to buy tacos seriously.. Give this place a try and see for yourself. I will be going there...

I have been here three times in the last year. It’s the only Mexican restaurant in town and I want to like it but I can’t. I feel like the food quality is below average, the meat is usually dry, I’ve had whole bay leaves and a huge onion piece in my burritos,and the salsa doesn’t have a ton of taste to it. All three times were to go, they got my order wrong the first and third time. I am not including the fried ice cream in my review but I was disappointed that their fried ice cream is not fried ice cream but ice cream in a fried tortilla bowl.
