Let me start by saying these are very good bagels. They are the 3rd best bagels in Monmouth county. The 1st and 2nd is Yorktown/Tommy’s bagels in Manalapan.(recently sold tho, so well see if the new owners mess it up) At hot Bagel Bakery, the tuna is a strong pass, but the bagels, very good. The staff is very weird about toasting bagels. They refused to toast a bagel for me and stated the toaster was broken. I looked at the toaster and it was on…with a bagel in it. So I said umm the toaster has a bagel in it right now, I’m looking at it. Then they said the bagel was too hot and it would catch on fire. Couldn’t really figure out the logic in this, probably because there was none. Then another gentleman says they’re too hot to touch. Then grabs a bagel and cuts it to a sandwich. So I said ok just let me get these 3 bagels, egg salad and scal. cream cheese on the side. They forgot the cream cheese, had to go back in, no big deal. The issue is they weren’t busy, usually the line is out the door, so they were just being stubborn for a bagel power trip I guess. They do get a lot of annoying customers in there so I understand, because I’ve owned a bagel store, hard business. What they don’t know is that I’m actually the bagel Godfather. People come to me for bagel advice and other bagel related things. Next time a customer comes in, don’t lie to their face. Just toast the bagel. Either deny the customer service or do the job right. Sincerely the Bagel...
Read moreAnti Semitic Employees- Surprising to me for a place that tries to cater to the Jewish community. I walked in and asked if the sesame bagels were hot, they said yes. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese. I got back into my car, opened up the bagel to eat it and the bagel was cold. I went back in to tell them about the cold bagel, and to ask for a new one. The girl who made the mistake would of made me a new bagel, but her manager was standing there and she had to ask her, the manager just shook her head and said "No your sandwich is already made". I was shocked that they refused to make me a new one. I left my bagel on the counter and walked out. One of the employee's followed me out the door and said "do you want your pennies back?" in a rude and demeaning tone as he reached into his pocket to give me some change. He made me feel real uncomfortable at that point. He was mocking me and my culture. I didn't even want my money back, I just wanted to get out of there. There are plenty of other good bagel places around, I would go elsewhere. In regards to the bagels, if the bagels are cold they are terrible. If they are warm they are decent. Most of the time they are cold. So if you do decide to eat here make sure they are warm,...
Read moreThis would definitely be my new Bagel spot because the bagels are delicious and also the homemade jalapeño cream cheese. It is too bad that the type of patron that goes to this store are all SO rude and haveÿ1 attitudes. When my order was ready and I was trying to pay at the counter, there was a young man in my way. I politely said excuse me, he didn't move. Again, I said excuse me, no response nothing. I had to say excuse me a third time, and I still had to go to the counter sideways. I looked at the young man just standing in front of the counter even though he was not ordering nor paying and I said excuse me one more time, still struggling to pay for my order. He got very nasty and said I heard you the first time. I said oh I'm so sorry you didn't move, so I thought you didn't hear me. It just really turned me off. Also, because the girl behind the counter was just watching this go down. If I was her I would have asked the other customer to move so...
