$160.00 Dinner for 5 persons.
Preface: I come from a technical service background and I have always strived to bring quality service to my customer base. But, when I become the customer, the table turns.
Star Loss, #1: Our hostess appeared to be more interested in gossip-chatting, at the opened end of the counter, rather than greating patrons. She had her back turned talking with an apparent, non-employee (not wearing a black T-shirt) both, looking side-to-side, but NOT towards the entrance. After 15 seconds or so, she turned around as if she was caught off guard, seeing my party waiting and said, "Oh! How many?" I replied, "Five". She said, "Let me see what's available (while gazing over the room). After a few seconds, I said, (and pointing to an area only twelve feet in front of her) "What about that area right over there; the one with the six chairs? That looks like a good spot." She said, "That seats eight." I replied, "That may very well be, but, right now, there are only six chairs; three on each side and IT looks perfect for five people." She proceeded to seat us (...at that location). Now, to be fair, to the waitress and the restaurant; everyone else within my party seemed to have enjoyed their dinner. However (and you may call it karma, but), I had ordered the "Surf & Turf"; steak medium-well and fried shrimp. What mistakenly arrived was grilled shrimp. My wife addressed the mistake to our waitress. To be fair to her; she did apologize, as she should. But, (Star loss #2) she then ASKED if I wanted her to bring the fried shrimp. I replied, "No" (Not if you have to ask!) She added, "Again, I'm so sorry!" I commented, "It's just people not caring enough to do their job."
Let me pause here. Yes, as she did, she apologized. BUT, and Restaurant Managers, listen up! She should have been taught to immediately add, "I will re-order your fried shrimp."
In closing: It is the restaurant's job, as a whole, to ensure their patrons have a pleasant experience by being attentive; whether it be the hostess with their alertness for greating approaching patrons or the waitress ensuring orders are correct.
BTW, though, I didn't mention it to her, my steak was also a mistake. A tuff medium-rare, not medium- well. "Surf & Tuff" (get it?). I saved it and gave to my doggies when I arrived home. At least they were happy. Now,...

I had the pleasure of visiting the original Railroad Seafood Station during a visit to the Corpus Cristi area earlier this year. I was visiting friends at the new SDI Construction site just down the highway and I was invited to go for lunch with them. They asked me if I liked shrimp and of course, I said yes!!!
When we got there I noticed the restaurant had a country-style feel to it, with post and beam decor and wooden tables and chairs. I watched as servers brought out massive platters of shrimp done in many ways. Once we were seated I let the gang order and we decided on a couple of family-sized salads, a large serving of jumbo onion rings and three platters of shrimp.
The platters we ordered were Blackened, Coconut and Fried Shrimp. Not one of them disappointed us. Every piece of shrimp on every platter was fresh, plump and juicy. The blackened shrimp had a nice kick to them without having to need 3 gallons of water to be able to eat them. Spiced just right, they had a good and even level of spice which made them very easy to eat. The hand-battered coconut shrimp were very appetizing as well. Cooked to a golden colour and crispy with freshly grated pieces of coconut these shrimp very amazing. I was very surprised when I tried the fried shrimp as they were lightly coated and not greasy in any way, crunchy yes, greasy no, these were very well prepared shrimp.
The food was very good, the service was great and we got our food fairly quickly so that lunch didn't take forever. I do recommend this place, and my only regret was that I wasn't able to try some other dishes and beers from...
Read moreHorrible experience at this restaurant in Odem! Took around 20 minutes to get drinks and finally left after 1 1/2 hours and still no food! There was only one other table dining when we arrived. Several groups came in after us, received their food and some left and we still had no food for our table. Our waitress, Akacia, proceeded to glare and give us dirty looks after we complained to the manager, then thought it was a good idea to walk up to our table being confrontational and arguing with us. Girl needs to be fired! While waiting to pay our tab for drinks we did receive, Akacia then went over to another table dining and was talking bad about us while they all stared at us. Very unprofessional and will NOT return. They lost a nice tab of 7 meals, 3 appetizers and what could have been a nice tip by simply not delivering our food and being unprofessional.
Update to restaurant reply: So she is excused from her behavior due to personal issues at home??? That makes it acceptable for her to act like she is going to start a fight with customers just because we complained about the service and cancelled our food order??? To set the record straight, NO ONE from our table called her a bad name…possibly one of the other tables who were disappointed in service as well, or is it just you making things up in your response since it took you over 6 weeks to respond…pretty sure you weren’t there or remember one particular night over a month later. Anyone who reads your rude responses to the numerous bad reviews can see what an unprofessional business you...
