The Shack in The Back — Restaurant in Odessa

This is a really nice place to have an event such as a reception after a wedding or after party although they sometimes (I actually had an employee tell me this rather than over the PA system which they do have as they have a stage where bands sometimes play; Akin to "Dos Amigos" also in Odessa; note. " Shack in the back is for nicer as you can see from the pictures of the pond with water fountains and the trees. Doesn't migos doesn't look anywhere this nice and I've been to both) localthey close every night early at 9:00 p.m.. In fact, they [sometimes] announce that they'll be closing in :30 minutes at 8:30pm; too early ( Hence the 4 star rating versus 5 which I would give if they stayed open later. The only reason I can think of this is because this place is less of a bar then the aforementioned other event center. But 9:00 p.m.? Even on Friday and Saturday night?!? I can understand during the week but Friday and Saturday?!?). I absolutely don't blame the owner for not wanting that pathetic (20's & 30's) 2am bar crowd" Which, I hate to say, because this is a rough or field town, comma the aforementioned crowd getswhich, I'm in my thirties to and certainly still go out but most of the bar crowd at this time in this area are absolute a holes

We did have a great time here. My biggest complaints are the drink prices, and the bar staff. The check system is moronic. You can buy a drink from any line, but can only close your check from the line you opened it in. How does that make sense? I waited half an hour to close my tab and was told I had to go stand in another line. Then the bartender tried to tell me that's how it is at any bar when I questioned that method. Just not true. Rude bar staff, idiotic bar system, but a great venue to hang out with friends. My recommendation is to pay for a table reservation, and get your drinks through the servers rather...

Beautiful oasis nice enough staff. But we had son's wedding there $$$$! N the electricity kept blowing All DAY! So our food never got hot ! They watered the night before n it was swamp land. Nice place in the middle of ugly ugly stinky tanks but for the price I thought it should of been better for wedding n set ups. Our wedding was still beautiful but seriously get your electricity figured out. You should refund my son's money, no one even knew what to do n we were trying to figure out the fuse...
