Garzanelli's Supper Club — Restaurant in Oglesby

The only reason I’m writing this is to warn other people. We wanted to like this place SO badly. We had just hiked at starved rock all day and were so excited to drop in for some dinner, but the food was so astonishingly bad that we were too nauseated to take more than a few bites each. The old fashioneds tasted like watered down and booze-free slushies, which we mentioned to the waitress. We weren’t offered a replacement or comp, which is fine, but when the fried chicken dinner was practically inedible and tasted like the frying oil hadn’t been changed in many days, we felt like it would’ve been a waste of time to say anything about that either. It was so disgusting that we spent the hour in the car home after dinner talking about how badly we wanted to get the ungodly taste of that oil out of our mouths. Literally haunting. We ordered food for pick up. They were nice on the phone. Cod & fries were good. The salad was soggy in the dressing, the mozzarella sticks were like out of a box, the calamari was decent and the pasta was drowned in meat sauce. Cod & Fries were the best thing. You walk in and it looks like a straight up dive bar, not a restaurant. Looks like everyone knows each other so when I walked in, it was like one of those scenes out of the movies. SO DISAPPOINTED, AGAIN! Horrible attitude. Charged us $33+ for our to go order. Checked the To Go bag before I left. Jumbo shrimp “dinner” consisted of 5, burnt and tasteless shrimp at and a cup of cottage cheese for $17. The spaghetti “dinner” was spaghetti and a salad that was drowned in oil/vinegar and wilted from being put on top the hot food for $13. Had to request the rest of my order and got a flippant attitude. Couldn’t even get bread and butter. I was informed, you can’t have it with a take out order. But they charge additional $2.50 for takeout orders. Shame on you Garzanelli’s....
