Burkey's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Ohio

The food is typical "out of the box" for the most part. I was there with a party of 7 other people. We've all been in before. We all liked the pie but thought the food did not reflect the good "home cooked" quality expected. HOWEVER: We ALL agreed the place needs a good cleaning. Starting with the front door (dirty handle and glass) to the fixtures and surfaces in the restaurant that are sporting a fairly thick layer of dust and grime, The place is just not clean. Looks dingy..We ALL agreed to NOT return because we weren't comfortable withe the lack of cleanliness that we could observe. Who knows what we can't see in the food prep areas? On an earlier visit, we questioned a young cook about Serve Safe training certification and he had no idea what we were talking about. We are neighborhood folks and sincerely want this place to do well. We drive by often and know there is a fair amount of business. But there would be a lot more if you had a sparkling clean image and just a little extra effort in the kitchen. Wouldn't hurt to display a Serve Safe Certificate. The course is a good investment. It give patrons a degree of confidence that your staff has been thoroughly trained in the rules of proper food handling safety. It is required in every food establishment in Greene County and can be observed in every Wendy's I've ever been to. Bottom line: At the very least, clean it up....

We were told to grab a table and someone would find us. Sat for 15 mins before anyone took our order and that's only because I flagged them down. New server since we were there last and he seemed a bit uncertain and new. As we sat there, we saw 8 dirty tables around us that weren't getting bussed. There was a redhead behind the counter taking phone orders and running the register, but mostly just standing there bopping to the music. Could have been helpful clearing tables?? I ordered cabbage rolls as I always do because they are some of the best. We ordered water to drink and it took an additional 20 minutes just to get that.. Food came out 30 minutes later. Husband ordered fish sandwich and sweet potato fries that were really good. The tossed salad he ordered never came. We ate and 20 minutes after we were done, still no salad. And 9 dirty tables. We asked to have the salad removed from the check so we could leave after being there for 1.5 hrs. I can honestly say I will not be returning as a diine-in customer. This severe lack of service has turned me away for good. I dont fault him for being new, but nobody else was pitching in. Good luck finding a table to anyone else coming in to sit down. This place could use a management adjustment if this is normal. It will be carryout for me...

Went there yesterday around 1 P.M with my mother for some late breakfast. We ordered Eggs, Sausage patties, French toast, hashbrowns, and a full order of biscuits and gravy. The eggs were cooked to long and had a rubbery texture. The sausage was decent but lacked any flavor. We didn't get our biscuits and gravy until we were almost done with the rest of our food. The biscuits were lukewarm and tasted bland and was hard. They were obviously microwaved because the plate was very hot but no steam came off of the actual food until you cut into the biscuit. We both only took about 2 bites before putting it to the side. The server was very nice and took the biscuits off of our check. The atmosphere was odd. Only us two and one other gentleman in the building, empty parking lot except for I assume his car and 2 staff members. Dark inside and no music playing and giant mirrors at one end. I'm not sure if it's because it was a Monday and they're not busy during the week or what but I wouldn't...
