Allow me to present to you a fascinating tale of my recent culinary adventure at a purported Mexican restaurant. Brace yourself, for this establishment left me with an indelible impression, albeit not the kind one hopes to encounter.
As we settled into our seats, time seemed to stretch on in an excruciating manner. Alas, after a solid ten minutes of solitude, we mustered the courage to beckon a server for chips and salsa. One would assume that such a simple request could be promptly fulfilled, but alas, it proved to be an arduous task.
Now, let us delve into the realm of culinary deception. The visuals depicted on the menu were, regrettably, akin to a mirage in the desert. I speak not of the typical disparity between reality and promotional imagery but of a grander misrepresentation. The sides showcased in pictures and described in the menu failed to materialize as promised. Oh, the audacity!
Our dinner orders, a Chimichanga, a Steak burrito, and a solitary ala carte cheese enchilada, descended upon our table with an air of despair. The Chimi's unfortunate fate was evident from the get-go. Drenched in a pool of water, it demanded three napkins to restore order. And pray tell, these alleged fried delicacies felt suspiciously soft, as if they had been subjected to an ill-fated rendezvous with a microwave. The meats, be it the beef or the chicken, bore no traces of seasoning, leaving our palates woefully bereft of flavor. Additionally, our plates mourned the absence of rice, for the menu's siren song of "rice and beans" remained unfulfilled.
Ah, the saga of the steak burrito! This peculiar creation, lacking the protective embrace of sauce, resembled an enchilada stripped of its essence. The steak within proved to be a tiresome ordeal, boasting a dry and chewy texture accompanied by an unwelcome abundance of fat. Its sole companions, a feeble blanket of unmelted cheese and anemic lettuce mingling with a meager dollop of guacamole, evoked a sense of melancholy.
And then we arrive at the cheese enchilada, a nondescript entity that did little to provoke our senses. Unremarkable in every sense of the word, it wore a sauce reminiscent of an uninspired canned creation, while the cheese, alas, exuded an unfortunate oiliness characteristic of processed imitations.
But lo and behold, the miseries did not end there. Our server seemed to have vanished into the abyss, never to grace our presence again. The salsa and chips languished, untouched and neglected, for they were never replenished. While the cost of the meal may have been humble, the experience was equally so. The food, trapped in a vortex of blandness and reheated despair, left us questioning our very decision to partake in this culinary odyssey.
Thus, dear readers, I implore you to steer clear of this establishment. May this cautionary tale serve as a beacon of enlightenment in your culinary escapades, guiding you towards more savory and satisfying...

Read moreBeing from Arizona, wasn't sure what to expect from a Mexican restaurant in Fremont. Decor was authentic and we were quickly greeted and seated during lunch. Nice menu selection with many of the favorites we are used to. Chips were warm when brought to table, I thought the salsa was a little bland (but, then again we are talking AZ standards here and would be nice to have a mild and medium/hot choice). We both got the make your own combination platter with the chicken chimichanga and the beef chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. Food arrived quickly and was a nice serving size for the price. The cheese sauce was delish, could drink that stuff up! I was a little disappointed on the chimichanga because technically a chimichanga which was invented in Tucson where we came from is a burrito dropped in a fryer and cooked til the tortilla is crispy. These chimichangas were more like a wet burrito which is called "enchilada style" when a burrito is fried and then topped with sauce and toppings. These were rolled burritos covered in sauce, so technically NOT a chimichanga (but still good). Next time, and we will go back, I will ask to clarify and see if they missed a step or if that's their version of a chimichanga. Nice staff, somewhat attentive. Gave 4 stars because of mislabeled food name and we never got a refill...
