Thursday October 30th, 2025. Deep Cut Tavern Rt 40 East Cambridge Ohio Time 6:00pm It was a rainy evening as we pulled into the Deep Cut Tavern. We had to pull around to the side as the lot was fairly full but still had a lot of parking available. Seating is help yourself and nice laminated menus are in all the booths.
Off the menu we ordered a hamburger w/American cheese, with tomato, lettuce, pickle, catsup, mustard and mayo. We also got a small side of fries to complete our cheeseburger deluxe order. We were not asked about doneness. Cheeseburger =$8.74 Small Fries $4.99
Lisa ordered a Deep Cut “Dill Pickle Chicken Sandwich”. This is a Chicken breast with a dill pickle breading that is deep fried. She also got coleslaw as a side dish to finish her order. “Dill Pickle Chicken Sandwich” =$7.99 Coleslaw $3.99
The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly on a flat-top grill. The Chicken was crispy but maybe a little over cooked. The buns were a standard basic hamburger bun.
The Cheeseburger Deluxe was well seasoned tasty and tender, but the shredded lettuce was piled on the bottom bun on both sandwiches, causing them to get mushy. The condiments on both sandwiches were very good and generous, and you can add your own catsup, mustard and mayonnaise.
The French Fries had the skins on and were crispy and tasty but lacked salt. No problem as you can add your own. It was a huge serving and sort of addictive like “Fair Fries” and came with vinegar on the side.
The side of coleslaw seemed like it was made in-house and had just the right vinegar bite. We give the following ratings out of 5 possible stars. We don't give out 5 stars easily. 4.5 is superb and 5 is excellent. Cheeseburger 4 Dill Pickle Chicken Sandwich 3.9 Fries 4.5 Coleslaw 4
Our waitress was very friendly as were all the staff we met. Very polite, helpful and attentive. The wait from order to table was about 13 minutes plus a 5-minute delay on the fries. We liked the tiled tables in the booths and the lighted beer sign décor. The low noise level in the restaurant, the lighting and the decor made for a nice tavern dinner experience. The Men's restroom was clean and well maintained if a bit old. Still a good facility We enjoyed our meal and the service. The Fries...
Read moreI was in Ohio for a work trip and drove from Columbus, Ohio, to try their Deep Fried Burger. (I currently live in Texas). Can we say AMAZING? I absolutely loved it. I ordered to-go and the wait time was not long for me. I called in. This seems as it's a little hidden gem that should keep it's smallness as it was refreshing to be space that provided such a memorable ambience. Reminded me of my hometown.
I ordered fries as well as mac n' cheese bites and topped it off with a cherry Pepsi. UMMMM, both were tasty and given plenty for leftovers and only wish I could have brought my air fryer on my trip to save.
I have ZERO complaints. If you're passing through, give this place a try. I noticed other reviews about wait time - it is a smaller place. In a world of "hurry" I appreciated what I was able to order and did not have an extremely heavy wait time during my own experience. Don't let the hard reviews hurt - this place is ONE OF A KIND!
I might JUST come back to Ohio for this place. Next time, I'll grab a...
Read moreWe took our family here while we were visiting Salt Fork State Park for a long weekend and had a terrific experience. It was a clean and well maintained establishment with friendly staff and good food.
The atmosphere was very welcoming. We were initially concerned that we'd be the uncomfortable outsiders in a tavern full of locals. That was not the case at all. We were made to feel right at home. There obviously were mostly locals, but they were old, young, couples, families, groups of friends... it's a place for everybody.
The food was better than expected also. I couldn't decide between the fish or a burger, but was told that they get their beef from a local supplier and that sold me. It was a really good and juicy burger made to order. My wife enjoyed her sandwich as did my kids enjoy their corn dogs.
The prices are low. I think the burger was under $5 and my beers were cheap too. What's not to love?
I'm looking forward to visiting again next time we're...
