After hearing for years from numerous people how great this place was we finally decided to give it a try. We ordered the pickle fries as an appetizer and they were good! Probably could have been a little more crispy but they were served with what seemed like homemade ranch and I’m a sucker for a good ranch. I ordered the 8oz sirloin and my husband ordered 16oz ribeye and we also ordered 2 chicken tender kids meals. When we got our food, (which was in a timely manner) my husbands and mine were not hot, but our boys’ kids meals were screaming hot. Which threw me off bc I also got french fries but both were undercooked and not crispy.. My husbands onions rings were awful. I bit into after he said they tasted funny and they in fact did. I tasted what I thought was a beer batter- (dont quote me on that) but the onion or grease itself had a very peculiar/unenjoyable taste, we didn’t eat them. The rolls were just cold packaged sandwich bread-like rolls, to each their own but also not my favorite. Now for the steaks, which is what I thought was supposed to be the hype of this place… I really wish I would have tried something different on the menu and saved my money. My sirloin came out way overcooked and so did my husbands ribeye. Seemed overseasoned coming from a “steakhouse” like if someone was trying to cover up a discounted steak you find at Walmart. My belly started hurting once we got down the street and I have been sick all evening..which once I read other reviews and have seen how other people have gotten sick it makes me wonder what they’re doing. Moral of the story, I wouldnt consider this place a steakhouse. I would consider it a restaurant/bar that serves mediocre food including steak.. And let me tell you, the disappointment escaladed when we recieved the bill and it was $100!!!!! Especially when we are frequent patrons of Texas Roadhouse and spend half the money on the exact same meal entirely and are 100% satisfied every time. My husband even made the comment when we left that I could have made that meal much better at home. And for the atmosphere, I can always appreciate long standing establishments and that “old, inherited” feel, but the place just needs work..not meaning updated or modernized but structurally. Our waitress was very nice and attentive though, I think her name was Nikki (not sure). Even though we were still there a few minutes after closing, we didn’t feel rushed or pressured. Her being so nice was the only thing keeping us from going over the edge. Take your money and...
Read moreThey participated in the Hocking Hills Comfort Food Cruise, we arrived earlier than they stated on the passport, it wasn't intentional, when they pointed this out, we apologized and had no problem waiting, but from that point on, it was like this Event, that was promoting their business, raising money for local food pantries, and giving them an opportunity to gain new customers, was an inconvenience for them. Like the participants of the Cruise were of a lower standard than their normal customers. We live 45 minutes away, in Buckeye Lake, we are known to drive to Columbus, Zanesville, plain City, and even MD to eat. 😆 If the service would of been more welcoming, we may of become regular customers. I'd rented a local room, celebrating my Mom's 70th birthday, as we took 2 days to enjoy this event, Jack's had been on our list of options for Dinner, till we visited. A local friend had also joined us, and was disappointed. The beef n noodles were tasty, pieces of beef, but the mashed taters were cold, and everything was served in to go containers. We were also asked not to sit in a booth, since we were only guests participating in the event, that Jacks signed up to do. 😆 they pushed 3 tables together & marked them off as comforr food cruise, didnt use the normal placemats, or silverware, they gave a plastic fork. And drinks in to go cups. They didn't want us to...
Read moreJack's has never disappointed us! We have been here many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Every September, on our vacation, we take advantage of their Monday or Tuesday night Steak Special BOGO 1/2 off! I ordered the 12oz Ribeye, loaded baked potato and onion rings. My husband ordered the 16oz Ribeye, french fries and onion rings. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. One Medium the other medium rare. My loaded potato was served piping hot and was delicious. Our server was fantastic as she was waiting on a large table inside and several tables outside as well. She kept our drinks filled and our wait for our meal was as expected. The only issue we had were with the onions rings. As we have ate at Jacks multiple times and always order the onion rings we were surprised when we served frozen, diced and minced onion rings this time. When we brought it to our waitresses attention she apologized and explained that they had run out and that they were not there to stay. She also offered me another side and apologized that she had forgot to share that with us when we ordered. Our meal was filling, but my husband had already spotted a slice of cheesecake in the dessert showcase and brought to my attention a decadent looking piece of chocolate cake. The cheesecake was raspberry swirl and the chocolate cake was possibly the best piece of cake I...
