El Avocado Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Okmulgee

We understand that they were busy, but it took us an hour just to place our order and receive our drinks. We were overlooked multiple times and eventually had to speak up. We requested queso four times but never received it. When we asked to have it removed from our bill, the server said he had done so, but he lied and tried to sneak it onto the bill anyway. I suppose he thought he could get away with it since it didn't provide an itemized list. We also received no refills on our chips or drinks, and some food items were missing from our dinners. We were in Okmulgee Aug 25-27 2025 on business for three days and fortunately stayed at the Best Western attached to El Avacado. We ate there the first night because it was convenient. But we went back the next night because the food was so outstanding. We went back for lunch, too, before leaving town. I’m telling you, folks. This is some exceptional Mexican food. There were three of us and everything we ate there was amazing. I recommend anything with grilled shrimp and to try the deserts, especially the chimichanga cheesecake, but we all got nothing but outstanding food with everything we ordered. I was excited to try this place because the reviews were pretty good. I’m allergic to avocados so I said no guacamole salad, guess what they gave me? I’m lucky to have a husband that’ll trade meals with me when a restaurant taints my food with guacamole lol. My daughter ordered a bean burrito and they gave her a beef burrito. Also, the chimichanga wasn’t crispy, the texture was like hot tortillas that have been wrapped in foil for a couple hours.
