Awful food, awful service, and manager kelley that does not seem to care. If you are visiting the resort, drive to down town and have a better meal at lastrada or even some of the smaller restaurants in chimney rock, you will save money and get a better meal. Our $13 wings (for 6) came out Luke warm, and without any appetizer plates. After waiting several minutes trying to get someone’s attention, I had to walk over to the managers station, and ask for plates. The manager Kelley did not look up or acknowledge me. A waitress standing by did and said she would bring over plates. Well, we take our first bite into the wings, And they were not cooked- these were pink and red meat around the bone. I asked for manager, she came, looked at the wings, asked if she could take them back to kitchen and show and tell the cook. She said she would comp deserts, annd and asked if we want another better cooked app . No thanks!
Next our main meal - my $17 cheeseburger came without cheese, and one of our party of four’s meal (my daughter’s) did not come out with the others. She had to wait 10 minutes before they brought it out. I told the waiter I am missing the cheese. He said he would tell the cook. 10 minutes later he returns with the missing dinner for my daughter and asks me if I want him to take my now cold burger back and have them add the cheese. No! Two of our party had already eaten a good portion of their dinner, the other just got her meal, and I had just eaten 1/2 of an undercooked chicken wing. Take the burger back ! While finishing up dinners, the Waiter had to be flagged down to get a refill of our drinks. When completed, we asked for a desert (remember the manager said she would comp it). He brought it out, and two of our party shared it. When completed, he asked if we wanted our check. Yes ! He took 15 minutes to get us the check. The check has the supposedly “comped” desert on it full price! I tell the waiter, and he takes it back, adjusts it. I take care of the bill and we start to walk out. I see manager and go over to tell her all that happened - Kelley smith i believe her name was, stood there leaning on the rail, phone in hand at eye level - which she did not take away from her eyesight while nodding to me. I got a meek “sorry, thanks for bringing all this to my attention”. I did not get the felling she cared at all.
Legends in Rumbling Bald Resort is the most expensive restaurant in lake lure, and I got lousy food, horrible service, And apparently there is no accountability. When the manager does not care, how do you think her staff will be?
I have been a part time resident /homeowner at rumbling bald since 2007, and member of the resort and poa. I hate to write a bad review, since it is us, the poa that owns the facilities, but with a “progressional management team” to run it…but darn it, the restaurant stinks, and the community poa management needs to do something about this.
As a side note, the menu is so limited as well - and has not changed since the summer . It’s expensive, very limited, and the meal and service is...
Read moreHave been here 3 years in a row with minimal change in quality. Feels like a ripoff every time, but previously the convenience of eating right by the water was enough to make it a reasonable choice. The food quality has been consistently inconsistent at best, some dishes have been reasonably good while others taste as though a withering, flavor blind Polish grandmother had the idea of becoming the head chef, and it feels like a gamble ordering something new. The pizza I had my first time at the place was genuinely something out of a comedy skit, and there was so much arugula on it that they forgot to put the sauce on the pizza.. I really want to be as nice as reasonably possible given the situation with Helene, but this was a consistent problem two years ago and still is today. The tomato bisque is so heavy with cream as to be almost completely indedible, lacking almost any flavor beyond it and the tomatos, and was one of very few dishes in my life that I genuinely haven't been able to choke down for a clean plate. The grilled cheese sandwich that came with it was lukewarm when it reached the table, with chewy bacon (microwaved?), and tasted mostly of grease. Maybe not the easiest dish to make (few can truly make a decent soup or sandwich, right??) Despite all this, I can't help but touch on the good parts of the place! The fish is generally well prepared and seasoned, although not always as fresh as you would expect for the price asked, and the stromboli was very good for reasons unbeknownst but to the kitchen and god, considering the painfully indedible pizza I have received not once but thrice. The place seems to have a problem of teetering on the edge of a mid-end dining restaurant and a glorified bar room tourist trap that makes due because of convenient location, and the prices fit right in, feeling far too expensive for the quality of food and atmosphere. Its like some knucklehead is trying to artificially raise profit because of a faltering customer base, and this has clearly been a problem for at least the last three years I have eaten here as the prices have not budged noticeably.
I rarely have great enough displeasure with a location that it leads to a negative review as sometimes a single bad review is enough to turn off the next customer, but truthfully I feel similarly conned trying to get food and drinks at an amusement park and would prefer tourist traffic to use their money more wisely and try one of the local small businesses for...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place to have a nice family meal this is NOT it. We arrived 15 min prior to our reservation and were glad when they were able to seat us immediately. This was about the only good thing that happened all night. Our waitress promptly took our drink orders and appetizer orders. Little did we know this was the last we would see of her for almost an hour. Our first appetizers of the watermelon salad and extremely salty spinach artichoke dip arrived along with the news that our wing order got “lost in the shuffle” and were just being started. We saw tables get seated, orders taken, and food of tables who came way after us arrive. And our wing appetizer still had not come. The waitress was going around taking other orders and we overheard her say multiple times she did not yet know the menu and couldn’t make recommendations because it was still a new menu. We asked for extra chips while we waited on our wings nearly an hour after being seated and were told there would be an extra $1.50 charge for more. Fine. After we thought we had been forgotten about a waitress finally arrived with food and asked if we had been served yet. She then proceeded to ask us what we ordered and went to search a tray of food to see if anything we ordered was there. We heard her asking another server what a dish was because she did not know. Over an hour after we were seated we finally all had food. After all this we were thankful to finally be eating. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster and tasted freezer burnt and from a can. We asked for the check immediately and left with a plan to eat snacks at the house to make up for our underwhelming and disappointing dinner.
I think the staff did everything they could in their power, but unfortunately the lack of management is rotting this restaurant to the core. I hope they are able to correct their mistakes and turn this beautiful location into a wonderful place to...
