TLDR: Hit or miss experiences, missing food, questionable health risks, and helpful staff. We recently visited the Old Town McDonald’s (OTMCD), and this visit was less than satisfactory. Here at Maine Reviewz, we understand that we have to set the bar low for fast food establishments. However, we expect to receive what we pay for, literally, and to not get sick from it. Four stars were awarded for the customer service and inconsistent great food. Despite a negative visit, I’ve certainly had worse from McDonald’s and these employees truly deserve a pat on the back for what they accomplish here. The OTMCD, in our opinion, is the best location between Bangor and Old Town. The staff are generally more friendlier, helpful, and they keep a happy demeanor. If they hate their jobs, I wouldn’t know. This location usually has a clean appearance and the modern, renovated building helps with that. That being said, every visit is a hit or miss. I find that the food quality completely drops whenever there’s a typical breakfast, lunch, or dinner rush, which leads me to go there when they first open or late at night. The customer service and attitude usually stay pleasant regardless of rush. When the food is good, it’s fantastic. I’ve had fresh, hot breakfast sandwiches that are visually appealing and aren’t thrown together. After dinner rushes, I’ve had burgers that are prepared well, crispy nuggets, and fresh fries. When the staff are able to work without stress, the OTMCD food quality rocks! However, when it rains, it pours. On our last visit, during a rush (I should’ve known), I stood inside and waited an unusual amount of time for our order, approximately fifteen minutes. Numerous people received their orders before I did. They put my food bag on the counter, but not a cup for a meal. I had to stand and wait another few minutes to ask someone for a cup. During the second wait, I observed the large fry sitting sideways and it had already started dumping fries into the bottom of the bag and onto the food. Upon returning home, I realized that one of our burgers only had top buns (not mad, just an odd note) and we were missing another burger all together. We must admit, we had a larger order. One Big Mac meal, 4 McDoubles, and 2 hamburgers. Though, for spending $30+ on McDonald’s and waiting for a notable amount of time, I wish I had received everything I paid for. On a side note, I stopped ordering quarter pounders shortly after they started making them fresh. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always gotten a pink quarter pounder at this location regardless if I ask for it to be cooked longer or not. I’ve never been violently ill from it, but others may not share my luck. The 1/8lb patties are fully cooked; and a McDouble is essentially a bare-bones quarter pounder for half the cost. On a more serious note, upon receiving our cup and attempting to fill it, we observed the two tanks for tea open and not tended to. It looked as if someone had refilled the sweet and unsweet tea tanks and failed to put the tank lids back on. There was nothing stopping a fly from landing in the product, let alone someone dipping their cup in it, dipping their fingers in, or potentially contaminating the teas with another food or substance. I’ll chalk that up to getting busy during a rush and forgetting about it, but that doesn’t take away the “what-ifs,” nor the gross factor. Overall, the OTMCD is the better location in the area. When you go at a time without a rush, expect a good experience with fresh food and getting everything that you spent your hard-earned money on. Simply avoid this location during rush hours unless you don’t have any expectations. The workers here work hard, and they exemplify in keeping morale high. At the end of the day, it’s fast food - it is what it is. Overall, keep up the good work! Best regards, M.R.

Everything is good here, only issue is the “Maintenance Lady” who comes in at 3AM with the black dodge van. Will knock on customer’s car windows and ask what their business is, puts high beams of her car on people too and almost hit someone’s car intentionally. Manager says that he sends her out to do security checks to customers and they won’t fire her since there’s no “maintenance person” to take her place. Lady has massive attitude (Karen). She also doesn’t like customers parking in the back because that’s her spot and puts cones by her car blocking spaces in the parking lot for her own use. Manager and Maintenance Lady are the issue.

So tonight 1/14/2025 I get my order and my burger was not cooked it was still very raw on the inside and semi-cooked on the outside. This is highly unacceptable as a food service assistant General Manager and Firefighter myself this would disappoint me in my store if this ever happened. There is a reason why we require all our managers and crew members to be serve safe certified and obtaining physical certificates before they can work with food in our restaurant buisness. Normally I don't have an issue at this location but this is unsafe for someone to consume luckily I checked it before I ate it.

This store is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with, Penny the store mgr. Is rude and don't seem to know how to manage her store. I went thru drive thru the other night and ordered my food, I need it made special due to allergies and medical condition. When I got the order I left the store (BIG MISTAKE) and the food was all made wrong, In fact had I not checked and just bit into the food I would be in the hospital right now. So I called the store and spoke to Alicia the shift mgr. She advised me she was writing my name down in the book and I could come get the food replaced anytime. The following day I went into McDonald's to get my food replaced, WELL let me tell you, Penny was so rude it was pretty pathetic. I simply asked for my food to be replaced and told her my name. She went and looked (I think she erased or scribbled our name out), Then she comes back and says we (my wife and I ) are no longer allowed in the store and that she was not replacing nothing and that a receipt and the food are required for replacement to begin with (I was not told any such thing otherwise I would have drove down and got it done then and their) She said I can talk to her boss Val- However I do believe the district mgr. for that stores name is Doug. I will be filing a complaint with the department of health, the attorney generals office, as I have pulled hair out of my food in the past, have walked in and seen nothing but trash and once two employees were having sex in the back, to much going on from this store. My food is always messed up but I usually check before leaving and catch it. The only reason we have kept going back up to this point is the convenience of the location, but that ship has sailed. I will stop at nothing to get changes even if that means that mgr getting fired or the store getting shut down!...

I used to go to this McDonalds a good bit when i was younger. Now every time i go they mess up my order. Once even the said to be fixed order. The food is hit or miss for freshness and more often than not, its not so fresh. Especially the nuggets and fries. If i had to estimate i would say they get my order right (correctly 1st try) 1 in 10 to maybe 15 times. Its disappointing. And some of the workers have the worst possible attitude. Some you can tell are happy to be there and take pride in there job. Maybe if all the workers were this way there it would be a superb Mcd's. But its rarely the case to get fresh fried foods here. Burgers are average if u get a decent bun. Updated 8/2020, This Mcdonalds needs a serious overhaul of either management or ownership. They never have quality food anymore. Its rare to get fresh food at any time of day other than the lunch rush. Even somewhat fresh. Sometimes my dogs wont even eat the nuggets from there. Nuggets are their absolute favorite. Like its the best thing in the whole world to them, but 50% of the time when i get em at this mcd's, they refuse them. Wasnt always this way there. Quality of food has really steadily declined. Prices keep increasing there when the mcdonalds 7 more miles down the road is cheaper and food is almost always fresh. And its no more busy than this one really. Almost always disappointed. Dont waste your money here unless you are going to ask for fresh food...
